Sedo great domains auction

If anybody fancies another laugh here goes:

Unfortunately, after a detailed assessment, the following domains have not qualified (the specific reason is indicated in parentheses after each domain):
- advice.co.uk (Quality requirements not met)

For real? They mmogames.co.uk in there! haha! Someone at Sedo doesn't like you mate.

I've had queen.co.uk rejected twice for the same reason :-( I noted too that some pretty poor domains made it to the auction..

And another….

Unfortunately, after a detailed assessment, the following domains have not qualified (the specific reason is indicated in parentheses after each domain):
- Elements.co.uk (Quality requirements not met)

Looking at the list:

Obvious services that lend themselves well to being sold online: webhostingprovider.co.uk (web hosting), freemobileapp.co.uk (app sales/development), accommodation.co.uk (accommodation), stocktrading.co.uk (finance), mmogames.co.uk (mass multiplayer gaming), dentalveneers.co.uk (dental veneers).

Products that lend themselves well to being sold online: esmokes.co.uk (electronic cigarettes),

grafitti.co.uk - trendy/cool/underground/artistic which would probably sell to some kind of online service provider.

"LLL" containing three good letters (and may have obvious uses, I haven't checked): tgi.co.uk, ipg.co.uk

Rejected that we know of:

queen.co.uk - no obvious commercial use comes to my mind. Not cool like graffiti.

vdo.co.uk - the "v" might spoil it (I've not Googled for anything else).

advice.co.uk - possibly too generic and no immediately obvious commercial use.

madrid.co.uk - Capital city of Spain. Why should this be particularly desirable within .uk? If it was spain.co.uk then much better, particularly with Spain being a very popular British tourist destination. I checked Barcelona.co.uk and it's parked.

elements.co.uk - plural so might reduce its appeal. No obvious commercial use springs to my mind.

All of this is in my opinion which anyone is obviously free to agree/disagree with and of course to debate. :)

Madrid and Advice are premium quality domains in my opinion. Should be in the auction.

(Again in my opinion).

You're entitled to your opinion but I note that you haven't qualified it with any "whys". :)

grafitti.co.uk is a typo too! I noticed it in the mediaoptions sales letter a while back at some ridiculous price. If you're going to spend £1k-£5k on a domain in a premium auction you'd at least expect to be getting the correct spelling!

Sedo's own guidelines for accepting names:

"The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors"

I think it can be argued that with the exception of Paris, Madrid is possibly the top destination for a city break in Europe. It is also joint (with Barcelona) as the most popular overseas football break destination.

And heres………………another:

Unfortunately, after a detailed assessment, the following domains have not qualified (the specific reason is indicated in parentheses after each domain):
- wde.co.uk (Quality requirements not met)
- wjf.co.uk (Quality requirements not met)

imo sedo are right there - they're not great domains. Your Madrid definitely was... random 3 letters do nothing for me though.

It seems bizarre to me that they won't let Madrid in.

Apparently this name isn't good enough either!

In the past every LLL was always allowed in. They just reduced the reserve for ones they did not like.

Love it Mark, at last someone who has the same popularity level at Sedo as me :D

Would really like to see the feedback from a Sedo UK rep.

WTAF they have let in a typo but won't allow the it domain?

Not letting IT in is a Joke must be some sort of automated system

What's the highest serious offer you've ever turned down for it.co.uk?

But if you are going to reduce the reserves on the ones you don't like to £500 or so to make them purchasable... (domainprices.co.uk as reference), its hardly a 'great domains auction' any more is it?

I'd have rather they kept the good shit in there, like Madrid etc. Then I've been happy to keep receiving the emails and see if I see anything of personal interest. But fill it with crap (like they done) and I'm hitting the unsubscribe button.

All these rejected listings, why not put them up on Acorn? I doubt Sedo would bring more eyeballs than this community (specifically .uk extension).
