I read about the launch of EscrowHill.com back at the end of 2013. The services has been launched by an ex Escrow.com member of staff, Andee Hill, and is based in New Zealand. The service directly supports six currencies including USD, GBP and EUR. The rates seem lower than Escrow.com for higher value transactions. They're also lower than Sedo.com external escrow (Sedo charge 3%) who support USD, GBP and EUR. If as the seller of a domain name you wish to be paid in GBP by EscrowHill.com then you may begin the transaction in GBP and ask the buyer to wire funds equivalent to the amount in GBP. Once EscrowHill.com have the total funds in GBP that you as the seller wish to be paid in the domain name transfer can proceed. Once concluded, EscrowHill.com will wire the funds in the same currency so no more surprises when your local bank astronomically charges you for any currency conversion.

Has anyone thought about giving them a go?

I've had a few conversations with Andee over a recent domain deal and she was very helpful.

Even though we ended up using our own lawyers for that particular transaction, I would be happy to use her in the future

Another domainer on Acorn recommended them. I'm sure he'll endorse them in due course.

Having dealt with Andee Hill in the past, I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

I've had good results with GBP > GBP with Sedo. They charge 3% for external escrows. I've also had good results with Escrow.com but the stinger can be their support for USD and EUR only. Other members have mooted suggesting asking the buyer to pay 10% on top of the transaction to cover USD > GBP conversion by the recipients bank. EscrowHill.com offering GBP > GBP is ideal.

EscrowHill rate (the "$" symbol is used interchangeably for any of the six currencies they support. The numbers remain the same).

Basic Escrow

$50 minimum fee

a) Up to $5000.00 = 2.5% of the transaction amount.
b) $5000.01 – $25000.00 = $125.00 plus 0.25% of the amount over $5000.00.
c) Over $25000.00 = 0.70% of the transaction amount.

$15 wire fee for disbursement
