Hello guys,

I've got a prospective buyer asking how much I want for it. Any ideas?

He already has the .com

I've still to hear back from 2 or 3 other potentials.

Cheers,

Calum.

Hi Calum,

The .com 's a developed site so I can see why the guy wants it (it could be the owner of the .com which would make it more valuable or it could be someone who wants to sell it on to the owner of the .com site). I would value it at around £2-£3k.

ok I don't know much about domaining but 2-3k seems way over the top.
What if he turns around and says that he has a right to that domain and seeks a DRS?

Apologies for sounding thick (or inexperienced), but what exactly is a DRS? There are several Ivy House Hotels in the country, so I would imagine it would be difficult for one to lay claim to it?

DRS stands for Dispute Resolution Service

Did'nt know they were more than 1 ivyhousehotel out there, in which case drop the figures by 1k either side.

I would have thought if there were 3 or 4 Ivy House Hotels in the UK, then there would be healthy competition for the domain names? ie. Basic economics would say that low supply and higher demand would increase the value???

Now I'm confused?

Even more basic economics and common sense would question why a hotel of that size would pay £2-3k for a domain. I'll eat my hat if he gives you that for it - best of luck though!

I have a few dropped 'hotel' domains. Some with reasonable traffic. Wouldn't expect any more than £300 for them as it's generally a low-margin business if e.g. they've let their domain drop, unless you're dealing with Paris Hilton or someone with a little more intelligence (non sequitur).

aZ is in the £ area...

£250 tops with traffic / developed to one of the 19 registered companies (3 same owners) or £100 end user if not owner of .com

if the owner of ivyhousehotel.com is looking for the .co.uk and will pay 2k go pick them up with the nom trans forms today! best of luck with it though ;)

yeh you might do a better trade out of gloves this xmas ugly :p:p

a DN is worth what it is worth to who wants it... there is always (somewhere!) somebody / company that will pay anything for a right load of b*lx and then 2 months later go liquid, because they spent too much on the DN!

we are guilty of selling a real stinker... $xx,xxx then POP company is under due to "expenditure over spend online" :???:

if it is generic and looked for... it will sell.. simple ;)

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It's good to see that this is not an exact science!

The Ivy House Hotel that's interested does appear to be on the small side, but there are another couple that are far bigger.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Nice Hotel!!

I have stayed there (the .com)!!! Yes no kidding, a few years now. Small business, yes only £300-£400 max...

Maybe I should swap it for a few nights there then!

I'm still hanging out for the Ivy House Hotel in Victoria, London getting back to me, but I'm guessing there must be an Ivy House Hotel that has dropped this domain in the first place!
