I think the OFT would never allow a ccl on it, because of the .org.uk. The finance industry is really tightening up now, people grassing others up to the OFT if they outrank them, Google only allowing ads from CCL holders. Regulation is getting tighter.... might be only a matter of time before Google ban non ccl sites out of serps...

I still think it is a good price though, but tricky as it is potentially (some grey areas) criminal act brokering finance without a license.

I don't want to overplay that angle but things are tightening in regulation and they aren't going to loosen in my opinion.

Very interesting!

I wondered if it could be construed as giving a false or misleading impression given that .org.uk gives a sense of a NPO in Joe public’s eye has there actually been any rulings etc against firms using them in the finance type context from nom or other bodies hadn’t found any specific a few from asa not finance but sort of along the lines of misleading/ pretending to be official but not sure how much relevance the being a org.uk in some bringing a complaint but could certainly see some of the sharks in finance sectors trying anything to crawl above each other//

I believe that is why the OFT has a blanket ban on them being used, so yep you are right. If you don't have a CCL then you can't use them to broker finance (affiliates). If you do rank without a CCL, others get jealous and file a report, plus it's a criminal issue so not really a slap on the wrist.

Is this the worst thing going on in finance at the moment, nope but government agencies have a habit of slapping a small guy while letting the big fish take the pee. For example Google loan hacking.

It's easy to fix, anyone that gets a loan through a non CCL's site should not have to repay the cash. You watch all these affiliates and lenders clean up their act..... :D

I suppose the days of 21,000 payday loan links pointed at a Bonsai society website had to come to and end eventually :D
