Minds+Machines offloads registrar business to Uniregistrar and Nominet

Without wishing to sound negative, doesn't this just dilute Nominet's interest further in operating the .uk extensions if presumably they are now going to start promoting these two bit extensions? Can't Nominet just stick to the .uk and stop devaluing its own product with all these new ventures?!?!

Without wishing to sound negative, isn't this a whole new revenue stream for Nominet that makes their recent 50% price rise look even more greedy?

How many of the 28 extensions are too small to be commercially viable I wonder?

It was exactly that, a simple copy and paste - readers of the article can take from it what they like.

So were nominet told they could do this deal if they raised their prices and did away with multi year pricing?

Second phase of Nominets not so public plan to come soon no doubt.

I'm happy for nominet to price domains as high as they wish and run the business as they wish, but to make so many changes and have so many agendas without being open isn't what I thought nominet was about. In my opinion of course.

I felt your headline was misleading because you have posted in the Nominet section of this forum. Your subject line states "Minds+Machines offloads registrar business to Uniregistrar and Nominet" but what is relevant with respect to Nominet is Nominet becoming BERO for MMX's gTLDs. MMX haven't offloaded any registrar business to Nominet. Unfortunately some members here won't read beyond what you post. Ian's comment of "presumably they [Nominet] are now going to start promoting these two bit extensions?" is a misunderstanding of the relationship. MMX and its registrar partners do promotion of the extensions. Nominet is simply the BERO.

Nominet's review of .uk pricing began last year, I believe, even before I joined the Board. MMX's decisions regarding their operations are completely independent from those of Nominet. This business partnership was formed much more recently. In my personal opinion it seems likely that MMX would have considered other BERO candidates, the same as it seems likely that Minds and Machines LLC would have considered other registrars besides UniRegistrar d/b/a UniRegistry to transition their DUMs to, but I haven't asked them so I don't know.

Can anyone find me a traditional registry that still offers discounts on multiple years? There may well be some but I am not aware of any offhand. If so, post in a new thread.
Who care's.

A good proportion of the content related to Nominet so in my view its relevant - if its not for you move on and read something else.

Anything regarding Nominet and you pop up spewing the company line, too much time on your hands and aspirations of something bigger in Nominet me thinks!

Minds and Machines LLC (an ICANN accredited registrar) is transitioning its DUMs to UniRegistrar Corp of the Cayman Islands d/b/a UniRegistry under licence from UniRegistry Corp of the Cayman Islands (another ICANN registrar). By today's count the number of DUM's that could be transitioning is just under 50,000.

I barely understood a word of your entire post
