I think the members have already proven that they don't *need* an official Nominet channel to put their views across. If our views are strong enough, we can put them across by proposing a fix and requiring an EGM to vote on it.
The clue is in the name. "Advisory" is a nice way of saying "here's an official place where you can have an opinion but which is in no way binding on us." Which I'm sure is really appealing to the Nominet board, but that's not how this kind of organisation works.
