Rel = Author thoughts?

Just implemented the Google + rel="author" to my main site.

It was pretty easy and is meant to give good SERPS benefits.

Has anyone done this yet and seen a significant change as a consequence?

For acorners who haven't come across this yet, it's a way of associating the pages you have written with your Google + account - it's the means by which mug shots of authors show up in some Google search results.

Think the Jurys out as to if its a benefit or not...? Sure well respected and trusted authors possibly ? So thats fine If you’re a single site/blog owner with total control..? But what if you have larger site multiple publishers etc and you list higher than the original article/authors site would it be hit.? or all those scrapers spammers that post would they effect your site ?

Lovely self promotion for G itself though by integrating profiles straight into its search results forcing more integration thus driving more to have a G+ account (a cynical view) It might combat scraper sites to so not all bad ? It depends on the site itself and “g “ real reason for doing so ?

Think being slightly unfair here. Recently got told not to take Estibot seriously which was sound advice even so don't see how an arguement TurnItIn offers absolute guidance holds water either. At least 2billion people online or there abouts, there's going to be a helluva lot of overlap in what's intended to be original works. Indicator at best surely, and them offering percentage results is frankly misleading.

Of course it benefits. It makes your article stand out from the crowd with a picture of the author and his name. Actual benefit to ranking positions is hard to quantify yet, but certainly author rank is goings be playing a more and more significant part in the amount of juice

Yes pretty little pictures and authors name fine if you want that? personally don’t care what the person’s pic is or there name..? More that what they write is informative and relevant? Do thousands of pics and author names become lost in the sea of others ? Selfish as it is most site owner’s want something for them not to make star’s of the authors? or just benefit “G" so as said guess time will tell
