Not quite understanding the rush to get .uk's... Haven't we got 5 years? There aren't going to be any decent hand regs where .co.uk isn't owned surely??

That said, we will be holding off on the .uk for most of the rest of our domains.

If I go to godaddy and put one of my current .co.uk names in under the .uk name (for which i have the rights) it brings it up as free to reg, am I missing something?!

Just registered my first one via Daily....

Loving the fact that each name shows general availability until you proceed to try and register (at which point it brings up a pop up saying you can only register if you have co.uk)

Hopefully some of those disappointed buyers will turn into sales enquiries

Nice to see some of the more popular registrars are adding a few pounds for a .UK over the price of a .co.uk!

This is awesome, better than I hoped! Available-but-actually-not is much better publicity for existing domain owners with .uk rights than "taken" would be! Means every registration attempt for the next 5 years effectively advertises the domain that has the rights already.

Lots of free advertising, in respect of what Edwin was referring to.

Well I suppose we shall see if it leads to an increase in interested buyers and sales.

I don't seem to have the Christmas morning excitement exhibited here

I just emailed a co.uk owner asking if I could purchase the new .UK equivalent from them.

They run an active site on the co.uk so no chance they would sell that, doubt they will let me have the .UK either but worth a try

I think it may be people’s browsers, internet provider who do this forwarding, as Amazon.uk has not yet been registered...

Strange as I also tried bbc.uk and a few other obvious ones which come up as unresolved. If it was forwarding you'd think it would be across the board
