I have a cheeky little 3 letter that is hitting 30uvs a day and running 30% CTR for the keywork "computer hardware" - set because of the names historical use.

Only problem is this keyword is only 3c EPC on Sedo. What would be the best alternatives? Is there somewhere I can look to gain an idea of better keywords for it?

I have been guilty of just buying and parking and not really caring about the keyword before but I would be silly to ignore the figures this one has.

Thanks!

Can be very powerfull combined with something like wordtracker, but thats quite a chunck of money a year and not amazing for UK results.

I don't know if keywordtracker is of any use to anyone, but feel free to have a go. Just type in your own keyword or combo, and see what comes up ($'s) though I'm afraid.

Google's external keyword traffic stats aren't accurate imo, although the CPC / PPC info might be. The traffic stats have shown impossible numbers in the past.

Mat what's wordtracker?

The UK search results on word tracker are at best an indictation or rough estimate, and alot more accurate once drilled down into google keywords. Word tracker is great for keyword gathering though.

I tend to use word tracker for keyword gathering, filter them down in KRA Pro and then filter the smaller list down with Google Keyword tool.

Not sure mate, I focus solely on the keyword in the url. For example, latest phones = latestphones-co-uk

Google always seem to be accurate for that, and that is across all my sites. Just done a search on "latest phones" with word tracker and that seems way out to me compared to the numbers coming to the site.

IMO as long as you mark Google Keyword Tool to "Exact" then it's pretty accurate.

I used to be confident on the exact searched until I came across loads of things that seemed impossible.

This thread I started a while ago shows an example (probably a bad example)

More info about the weirdness I found in G's keyword search tool in that thread - but my example then was "occiput":

How can 'occiput' have over 4000 exact searches and 1600 broad searches? Are they mutually exclusive?...

(Also: How can 'occiput' have a CPC of £0.51 when no ads are showing on a Google search page when I search for this keyword?)

Maybe I'm missing something with this tool. On the whole the results seem very plausible and I believe them but I still come across examples that make me wonder how accurate the tool is.

I must admit that Occiput.co.uk looks strange, I remember with overture they used to have some barmy results pop up from time to time.

PS, you got me worried now you sod, just bought a £600 domain with a crap url but high google search results.

So I don't know if I'm telling you the truth of clutching at straws, not to worry though mate for 6 months I was valuing names on google "Broad". Thinking that was accurate :(:(

All the best
GW

High Google results are one way to work it out, but -

I registered a name because it got high Google results recently, in a bunch of similar style names, and decided to focus on developing it because it was the highest in the list.

Zilch nada cash later, I looked harder - the results are high because I picked the name of a company that went bust in spectacular manner in 1976.

WTH some you win, some you lose ...

High Google results mean...

High results don't really mean much until you get get into the top five or three positions in the SERPs.
