1and 1...lookout

I posted here last week...

About 1and1. also have a large post on grumbletext. They started dropping domains and re-reging others so had to migrate to new co. an exercise costing a fortune. Now after threatening to drive down to Slough head office and kick off in conjunction with a legal action to recover a grand plus (it's the principle too), I am getting credit notes which are worthless to me.

I used to think they were rubbish because of their size but can now detect a rich vein of dishonesty. Trading standards are powerless as they are tied up in technical knots.

Just dont go there!

If anyone is interested, I'm thinking of formulating a case to present to the OFT because Trading Standards is obviously not able to understand.

My opening statement to trading standards....

was almost immediately halted by my interviewer and I was asked what I meant by 'Domain'. I was on the telephone for over 90mins initially, and every five minutes my brain told me I was wasting my time, although I knew I had to go through the loop in order to add the padding of evidence to my legal action and demonstrate that I had explored all means of mitigation.

Have you had the one where you ring accounts, speak to someone who clearly is'nt hearing/understanding what your saying that suddenly out of the blue passes you to the team leader who after a monster hold answers with 'technical services.....oh you need billing' It's like a monty python sketch.

We would all do better getting together and going down there in a coach, pre alerting the local TV station first.

On Grumbletext one of the guys has gone so far as to alert the police to a fraud which I understand they are investigating.

As a 1&1 customer myself can I ask what's actually happening here?

Is this auto-renewing domains charging to cards you had since cancelled? Was the £600 sting a batch of renewals you didn't know would auto-renew?

Can see you're all upset but could you please give more detail why because it makes concerning reading for other 1&1 customers to see '£600 stings'.

i was hit

for over a grand for domains that I had transferred away but which were subsequently renewed even though the NS were swoped and the 1and1 TX protocol followed. T'Standards in Slough have a massive file of complaints on this issue, also on occasion would notice that domains had not been renewed but had been dropped although this was only on two occasions. Had multiple accounts on one credit card so could not - not pay just had to sit back waiting for them to try and sort it out continually paying to renew domains that were regged elsewhere.

Just an aside, one afternoon I was with a website client checking available domains for his new business and we tried one in particular that suited perfectly it was gone, however later that day I checked it with namesco, it was available so I grabbed it. got a call a little while later threatening legal action for advising the name was not available then regging it, lost a site build/£1000. This has happened a couple of times, dont know if its anything to do with me bulk checking domains with Network Solutions as they are bad for front running.

Check out the register or just do a search on 1and1 problems.

Enough already!!!
