ANyone else getting loads of emails from 1andSHIT1 this evening? Invoices for domains I no longer own and that are now with other registrars. These are accompanied by credit noted that negate the invoice.

What a complete waste of fkin time. This is why I have transferred hundreds of names away from them in recent months.

My legal action is still in process right now against them, but I'm reclaiming 4 figures from them...

They are crediting you with the difference in VAT, it doesn't matter that you've transferred. Your initial payment was for 2 years, if 18 months of that is at the lower VAT rate they need to credit you with 2.5% for 75% of the original amount.

Would expect other registrars to fllow suit although maybe with a single credit note per account, rather than 200 emails ;)

You may get enough back for a pint :D

No other company is making me more angry that 1and1 at the moment. I have had every problem possible with them.

They were inable to transfer my domains so I did it with nominet directly, and they are still charging me for the domains that are no longer with them (like Pendragon).

I've been on the phone with them for hours and hours, different people, emailed hundreds of times, same problems still happening months after.

Make sure you don't call their 0870/0871 numbers, they'll profit from that... go to SAYNOTO0870.COM - Non-Geographical Alternative Telephone Numbers and find an alternative geographic number.

I am seriously going to invoice them for my time and effort trying to fix stuff that they are too stupid to understand.

Yes I have also received loads of invoices from 1and1.co.uk over the weekend. I am so pissed off with them - they are such crooks! I will now have to spend my Monday ensuring that I will not pay a penny of these ridiculous invoices. I have received over 30 invoices!!! Argghhhh!!!!

you are going to get an invoice for every order you have made in the last 2 years with them, which is about 200 in my case!!

I think we should all forward them on to [email protected] and swamp their inboxes.

Yes I think you are right!

It looks like they are trying to charge me for domains I have previously been already billed for.

Is this an admin error by 1&1 or just another 1&1 fraudulent scam? Either way I am in the process of cancelling all 127 remaining domain names I have with 1&1 - I am sure this will screw up some of my clients websites but I just need to cut all ties with this company for good!! I really could have been doing my work today rather than dealing with this. Can't believe this company has not been closed down the number of people that have reported their evil ways!!!

Anyone know if the UK programme Watchdog has mentioned 1&1 before?

Oops just read the thread again and noticed the bit about the credit note. I hadn't noticed the extra attachment.

Still I think it is worth getting shut of this company even if it does cost me time and money to do so.

One way we could get huge attention is report them to the Exchequer for VAT fraud...
Since some of us paid for domains that were subsequently detagged for no reason (and contract(s) cancelled), the contract was breached (in addition to UK law), and the VAT paid on that contract probably will not be paid back to us...

I've spent my morning being hung up on twice.

I wasn't offensive, I just asked for my credit card to be taken off file because I don't want to be charged by mistake for anything in future now that I have transfered all, and are now moving the few .coms away.

She hung up, if anyone wants to call 1and1 Billing, sit in a line for 45 minutes, listening to sh1t music, then be hung up on, when you just want to stop being charged for stuff you haven't ordered, their number is 01753 490402.

Have already emailed [email protected] the trouble is I'm getting prepared and I can't seem to find who to contact about complaining about the complaints department

STAY AWAY FROM 1AND1: unless you like headaches

Can't you just advise your credit card company you did not authorise these charges and you are not authorising further charges.

This would mean the company would be investigated and all further transactions on your card stopped.

Not as easy as that (or at least in my experience of having to do this before).

The bank has to send a form out for you to dispute the charges in order to get a refund.

About stopping further charges from a vendor, I was told by my bank that they can't do this! After what's been happening with 1 and 1 I think I am just going to cancel the card and get another with a different security number.

That's a quick fix to stop 1and1 taking charging me for services they haven't given

Ok I thought I'd update this thread because I am ready to go down to 1and1's offices and start throwing stones...

I believed them when they sent me an email saying that they would refund the charge for services that I never had, and their confirmation that my account is closed and that there will be no further charges....

A month later I see a refund for £20 and they've charged my credit card another £96.28 for services that I never had from them.

You wouldn't believe the number of emails and calls I have made to their billing, support, transfers and complaints department about an issue that's been going on since November.

And they just hide behind departments and the opccasional email which hardly answers 2 questions in the 10 emails I've sent in the meanwhile...

If anyone knows anyone at 1and1 who will follow through with something they say they will rather than making the problem worse, please send pm me their email/telephone number.

This company really doesn't deserve cusomers - I've spent so much money with them in the past.

Before you do anything else, report your credit card missing and get a replacement. The credit card number they have on their system will then be invalid if they try to charge you again.

Yep I cancelled the card earlier. Just a pain having to wait for another one.

But I wish I'd have cancelled it about 3 months ago to avoid all of this. I just believed them when they said they'll refund what they owe and wont charge me any more...

This really has been a learning experience about how terrible companies can be. I'm becoming one of those grumpy people who complain about customer service, and make it their life's calling to warn people about the company.... I need to snap out of it!

Just be careful, there are some companies out there who are able to bill your new card by entering your old card number. I don't know exactly how it works but eBay billed me a few times on a card that's been cancelled for over 3 years.

Must be Barclays that updates the debit to my new card, yet they don't do it with all, strange!

I think you are going to have to go to court regarding one and one mate.

I feel your pain

I am currently looking to leave these jokers.
Why?
1. a year or so ago, when my card was reissued, the payment failed. They went straight to sending out red letters and then charged me for defaulting
2. just tried to update my details now and it went to a card verifcation screen which said I was being charged £10
3. i call billing department and they actually asked me for my password!!
I told them I will not tell them my password

Conclusion: major wtf and I'm leaving them - any recommendations?

I've heard how people have had their websites cut off soon after a payment fails too. Rather than a reasonable grace period.

I understand that some companies have to ask for a password for security to protect your account.

With 1and1 there is a bigger problem going on. There are many websites where people are posting about their bad experiences. There is some culture within 1and 1 which allows the staff to hide behind emails.

Recently and even todya I'm involved in a new round of troubles with 1and1:

1. I had moved all my business elsewhere and they closed my account. I managed to get an email from someone at 1and1 billing saying that I didn't owe them anything and that I had no business with them.
(it took 3 months and a total of 8 hours on the phone with them to get this done)

2. Shortly after they took more money (£100 I think) for services I don't have with them!
I disputed this and other charges, eventually getting a refund. (many more emails and calls ignored)

3. Over the last few days I have needed to get all my 1and1invoices together to do my accounts. I can't login because they closed my account. When I email them for invoices telling them that I have no access to login, I get a standard reply telling me that if I login, I can find all invoices in the billing section.... :-x

Seriously. I've had this reply from them several times and when I call they say I should be able to login to get this information. I explain that I can't login because my account was closed, then they hang up on me again!

My last email from them was this morning. Not only did they repeat for me to login to get the invoices (which I have told them several times I can't) but they also said that I have £20.70 outstanding on my account - even though I have emails from billing (after I pushed for them to confirm I owe them nothing)!

Will this crap ever be over.

No one is accountable. How is it acceptable for the best service a customer receives to be having 1 out of 3 questions in an email answered ? and most of the time their response ignores questions or customer statements.

I can't recommend another UK registrar as I now manage the domains myself and host at a few places. Before I used Heart Internet and was happy but I know a few people had issues with Heart - but nothing compared to 1and1.

I've actually been thinking about how I can waste 1and1's time as much as they have wasted mine. Maybe we should set up a website with recordings of prank phone calls to 1and1 ? Any ideas?

I've been with them for a long time with no problems I couldn't sort out. But I have heard too many bad stories from other people to be totally happy with them.

I'm just not happy to build a long term business relationship with them. I've got 100s of domains with them + hosting. I spend a LOT with them!!! But if things go seriously wrong I dont think I get a sympathetic hearing from them.

Now, I'd like to try elsewhere - but as I want a UK firm, my choice is fairly limited, and I'm concerned that they are all the same anyway.....:?
