wow that'll be half a million quid .co.uk renewal fees per year

quarter of a million ;) half a million every 2 years :)

I just thought the same thing ha ha !

I have bid on a few of their domains and every counter offer i got back seemed vastly over inflated

They have one I'm tempted by, it was listed on afternic for $519 and BIN is now $399 [£248] on their own site, and they accept PayPal hmmm.

offer them $1 see how much they'll inflat on their BIN price

I have dealt with them you’ll find it hard to get a bargain from them… Don’t think there invoices can be written unless there are a certain number of noughts on them.... They have sum great names though

Don't write them off, have had some sensible prices back from them recently.

I got in touch as i saw them letting a couple (well couple of hundred actually) of there domains expire , Offered to buy the some of the ones they where due to let go. Offered to buy about 50 of them and come back with a price of $8000, ( despite the fact they were letting them go for nothing)

Safe to say didn't go ahead.

I am sure they have the right tactic. They have enough generics that they must get sales daily, even at good end user prices. It's just math - you need about 500 dollars per 100 names per year to keep them renewed, so sell 0.5% of inventory per year at an average price of over $1,000 and your renewals are covered. Not exactly a tough target!

Don't get dazzled by the raw size of the renewal fees on the whole portfolio, I'm confident they must be making money hand over fist.

Do they charge fees to buyers and sellers? I looked through their site but their charges are conspicuous by their absense.
