According to Google you gets more clicks if you place adsense on the left rather than the right.

so why are most sites I see putted it on the right?

Most of my is on the right.... maybe that's why I am not getting the clicks

People put it on the right because generally you have navigation on the left,

Visitors naturally look for the navigation links at the top or on the left hence if you have adsense there it gets a better CTR - however most are not happy to move their navigation for the sake of higher CTR.

I see what they are saying but you might have to bare in mind that (I know it's not the same) when people read newspapers and books there eyes are automatically drawn to thr right, as when they turn the page it is the first thing they see.

Thus advertising on right hand pages cost a lot more in papers and mags than the left hand side.

Whether it is the same or not I'm not sure but maybe this is why they think the right is better.

I Also tends to look at the right, thant's why I putted them all on the right.

So if people tends to look for links on the top then I should only put link ads on the top? to fool them?

anyway my ads click been good when I putted only link ads on top of the page, now I also added adsense banner on top to test out the result for today.

Look at some eyetracking heatmaps - left will do better IMO because as Scott says it's where people look for navigation.

I would also advise integrating some horizontal adds within your body text, sharing the same background colour of the page so they don't stand out.

I have started receiving better CTR by switching my adsense to the left hand side (where the nav bar would be).

The site is basic anyway and as such having the adsense on the left and linked in blue it may influence people into clicking the links as if it were a nav menu.
Either way I'm happy with the change.

Ok here's my finding by putting a banner on top of the header links kills the link clicks, halved my earnings for yesterday :( I am planning to move ads from right to left and see what will happen.

i moved my adverts left the other day, as click through rate dropped, MASSIVE improvement.

Advert now also blends in with back of page.

Hi, thanks a lot for the advice, I'm going to switch all my stuff to the left lol i'll tell you if it makes a difference!
