I love this forum as many others do, but I am totally fed up of seeing adult posts all over the place.

Really severe adult domain names mixed in with lists of others, domain appraisals for lame but never the less adult domains, and even for sale domains in the general board.

My partner recently introduced a new member who wants their teenager boys to take up domaining, but cant let them use the site due to all the inappropriate posts.

Yes people hang around in the same place, they want to have banter, I understand this, but surely the forum needs to decide how matey it should be.

I dont care if I get banned for saying this, as i'm planning on not really taking part much anymore anyway, but if I see any more illegal domains, I will be reporting them. Which I would do if I saw them advertise it anywhere else and not just a forum thing.

I mean the severe ones that can only be in relation to illegal activity of an adult nature.

Adult domains should be in the adult section.

Give us some examples ;-)

As for the teenage boys...they've probably looked at everything under the sun online already. That's what teenage boys do.

Cheers,

Ed

+10 from me. Put them in the "Adult" section (that's what it's there for) or nowhere.

From what a couple of posts have mentioned, the 'adult' section appears to only be shown if opted in through the control panel.

Assuming that's correct, perhaps part of the problem is that people aren't realising this and can't find anywhere else to put them? (not defending the suspects btw, I agree completely)

Not leaving the world of domaining and Acorn behind are you Caz?

100% with you on this. I am completely against porn/adult of any kind. However I do understand why some people use / make money off it.

Anything adult orientated should be opt in (imo)

I just disagree with the dont care attitude lately and posts left right and center.

As for domaining, hats of to everyone who does it, its not easy at all, especially if you have a family, like lots of people on here.

I'm just going to try and spend less time visiting acorn thats all :) which as you all know is hard when its just a click away on your mobile phone lol

If you are referring to my thread from earlier then I wasnt aware there was an adult section and i didnt think celebrity juggs was particularly offensive. If you are talking about other posts then my apologies, but this thread seems to have popped up shortly after my listing.

I wasn't referring to that one, however it was that one which was slightly humerous, which reminded me of the growing number of posts.

Like it or not there will always be people trading in adult domains. Making the adult section opt-in was a massive mistake in my opinion. People don't know it's there, so firstly you get people posting adult domains on the main forum and secondly anyone who does know it's there doesn't bother using it because the majority aren't aware of it.

I say either ditch it completely or reinstate it and ****** out the thread titles on the main front page like I suggested about 3 years ago.

That means you were referring to my thread. However, I don't feel I need to apologise for that thread as I feel it was OK to post it in the main appraisals section as 'hot mums' does not necessarily have to have a sexual context. It could refer to a community of mothers who feel they are hot, which is a clean and innocent phrase. Have a search for 'hot mums' and there'll be a few clean websites that are communities for "attractive" mothers.

Poor sad deluded fellow. We should maybe take a straw poll amongst your family, work colleagues and neighbours.

Let's see if they agree with you.

My concern was there are posts everywhere and it's not on. And with attitudes like that no wonder.

My main concern were adult domains mixed in with others. One of which was illegal so IMO not good news for any public forum which has memberships starting at 13.

You seem to be one of those individuals that's easily offended by the smallest of things. I do agree that adult domains should be kept in the adult section but there is no way that the phrase 'hot mums' is explicit. Kids these days call their friends' mums hot, and that's them being flattering. Just because the porn industry has used the phrase 'hot mums' in a sexually explicit manner, doesn't mean it is.

I get it. But intent is everything.

Anyway I don't get offended easily. I just think people need to stand up and be counted. Which is something I'm not afraid to do. And I'm really pleased to see several others on here do the same.

I won't comment on this again as the more it is discussed the less important it sounds.

And I respect that you stand up for what you believe in.

No hard feelings then?

If they are old enough and smart enough to be domaining, then they're old enough and smart enough to know to stay out of topics they have no business being in as kids. They're also old and smart enough to go find actual, real porn elsewhere if they want to so your attempted censorship of something extremely light is a bit pointless.

If they can't be trusted on Acorn then they are too young and immature to be trusted online on their own at all anyway, and they're not ready to be domaining either...

What teenager hasn't went online and typed in something rude or adult into Google? I know I did... finding a thread on Acorn with a naughty word in the title is the least of their parents concern...
