affiliate guidance please

I'm now looking into building up my affiliate programmes, but I want more than the normal html link banner approach. Can anybody give a few pointers or even PM me a few sites I can have a look at for inspiration.

The type of products I'm thinking about are sports wear (primarily rugby), hotels, insurance, mobile phones, electronics
