Hi,

Looking for your thoughts on this one, a recent catch:

idth3ft / co / uk (the 3 is an e)

Best offer for it so far has been £750, but that's a bit below what I would take for it, so I didn't accept the offer, it's a nice name and worth a fair bit more than that in my view.

I could get this very well ranked in Google just by putting a nice public information site on it, and then link it up with a number of anti fraud sites I'm a member of, as well as linked to my own fraud sites, but I'd rather just make some cash from it if the right offer came along.

I think you were right not to sell at that level because the increasing proliferation of ID Theft insurance means that this domain could do quite a lot better sale wise and you should think about approaching some relevant companies. I could see a much bigger sale quite easily.

you should think about approaching some relevant companies.

Yeah, I sent a few emails out to some banks, insurance and theft type companies, but wasn't sure of most of the email addies as they were not listed on their sites, so I just just sent them as info@domainname to each of the companies, most bounced. I'm not sure I can be bothered digging further for an end user as I can't find the proper email addies for them, and it would mean sending snail mail to their head offices, also not knowing who to address the actual letter to, and I'm not very good at writing that sort of letter, I did get a copy of a format but I still balls it up, I don't have the patience for all that sort of stuff.

Very obscure? I get it with the 'e'.

Yeah, I obscured it with the "3" instead of an "e" to prevent Google from finding this topic, just in case one of the end users did actually receive my info@ email :)

With this domain, I think it's a shame you aren't sending out letters, because if you want to realise that true end user value, you have to actively market the domain and I imagine a letter is often the best way.

Just having a look on Google to see if I can find any ready made letter templates to use:

domain sale letters to end users - Google Search

Obviously, I would like to get as much as I can for it from an end user, rather than reseller prices, it's just all a bit daunting at the moment, never had to do stuff like this before.

I found this topic on NamePros with some letter templates which look alright, might be handy for others in the same boat as me:

NP - Domain Sales Letter examples

Looks like I made a number of errors with the email I sent out, I sent it from a Yahoo email addy, didn't have much choice there, as I don't have an addy for my domain name to send from, and I never gave my address or phone number in the email for anyone to contact me, only to reply to the Yahoo addy.

Got a few more bounced emails today, so probably about 1 email got deleivered out of those I sent :(

Nice name,do your own site and provide leads to insurance companies, they pay quite well for insurance leads.

Nah, I'm not really one for doing that sort of stuff, I don't like that sort of affiliate stuff on my sites, I never put anything more than Adsense on my anti fraud sites.

What's the score with Na**pros then? :D

The score is it's another domain name forum and it actually states in Acorns' rules that you cannot mention another forum in your post.

Tut Tut, you naughty boy go spank yourself

What, is that it, thought there might have been some big barny or something

Edited my link on page 1 anyone to say NP instead :p

Well, I didn't do much with my site, I left it as a single pager and a links page and found that it was dropping further and further down Google UK serps each day, last time I looked it was around page 15 or worse, so I re-wrote some of the text on the single page a few days back, and it's gone back up to page 4 in Google UK now, it's also position 4 on page 1 of Yahoo for the exact term.

Then last night, I thought I might as well update the whole site a bit more, got a template and added a couple more pages for news and security alerts etc, I'll add some more pages for statistics and other stuff in the week to get it better indexed, I might even change the template for something better and re-do it all again.

I've only looked at this using the Opera and FireFox browsers, sort of looks ok'ish, but that's as good as I can get it, could someone check if it's working alright in IE and other browsers, please?

@ Firestars, why do your eyes bleed, there isn't all that much text on the page, only 773 words on the home page

Thanks for confirming it works ok on IE

For my taste there is far too much going on, with different colours and fonts, no titles or subheadings and no clear format to the page.

However, if you are simply trying to obtain a good position in Google, then I guess its doing its job.

You need too alter that front page, and break it up into 3 headers, with a summary of the content leading to 3 pages, stats, types and of course the current index.

Aim for 300-600 words per page, 4-5 sentances per paragraph, the more pages someone views the more ads are served and the better your revenue.

Use the <h1-6>, don't have ALL your text bold. Use bold and italic as your highlighting text tools :)

Also maybe worth using a size 12 font, to help filling.

I'll admit I don't have a clue about designing websites and how to set the content out, I just usually throw a load of text on the page, so I'll bear that in mind when I do so more work on it.

Ouch, only 300-600 words per page, in that case, you and Firestars better not look at my other website then, it will make your head explode or cause severe eye bleeding :), that home page has 3325 words (19452 characters without spaces), mind you, it does get a few visitors, around 25-40 per day, and it ranks very well in Google for numerous phrases related to fraud even with the 2 hyphens in the name.
