Was very happy to get it and seemed quite apt as I was very much into poker and casinos and had noticed a lot of the compulsive gamblers switched casinos according to who had the higher 'badbeat jackpot pot' at that time.

But doesn't seem to enthuse many here

Well bad beats are awful, it's where you have a great hand (usually 4 of a kind minimum that would usually dominate) and it gets beaten by a better hand.

Bad beat jackpots can reach thousands of pounds, but your domain is BadBeatPoker - not BadBeatJackpots.

I think the main issue is that there is no such thing as bad beat poker, there are bad beat jackpots which ease the pain of losing with a great hand - but bad beats are usually a terrible thing to happen to you.

So bad beat poker = poker with negative connotations

Not a poker industry term (in it's entirety) = Brandable

Brandable with negative connotations = not really a good domain

Thanks for the reply and your appraisal but I disagree with you that bad beats are awful.. I mean how can it be so awful when all the bad beat hopefuls (yours truly included) go to the casinos to play poker just hoping that they will be 'bad beaten' that day.. With the jack pot that used to run into mid to high $xx,xxx, how could it be awful ;)

And therefore I don't think it has a negative connotation for the domain name but as to its direct association with poker otherwise you might be right.. But still don't feel its such a bad name..

Yes, but most bad beats don't get anything...

If I have a full house with kings over tens and you have one with aces over tens, then you win and that's a bad beat - just not an exceptionally bad beat.

You have around 0.00000519% chance of getting this kind of bad beat in any one hand.

For nearly all poker players nearly all of the time, bad beats - bad news.

Tony

As PoshTiger has said it's a negative term "bad beat" so I can't see any value.

I used to play online poker nearly fulltime in my early 20's, I once lost with quad 2's on a cash table, someone else had four 6's  2 on the table 2 in his hand, luckily I only had $50 on the table at the time :)

That was my worst bad beat.

Didn't realise there was so many players here. We should setup an Acorn table. I could do with making some more money!

I would probably be up for this

Should start another thread about it maybe?

This domain is worth nothing I'm afraid. I've had bad beats for (relatively speaking) a fair chunk of money and it's not a good feeling lol.

I'll play if you all sign up through my aff links :)

Snap, have to echo what others have said, not the greatest brand because of the negative connotations, but maybe could be developed as a site listing the bad beat jackpots and you could go after bad beat keywords - plenty of content to be created from blogging about bad beats in tourneys etc.

However UK online poker is not a great market right now. Hoping it will pick up as more US states re-legalize it.

Wow.. had gone for a few hrs and this thread seems to have picked up some life.. However a bit tangential to the original topic.. hehe..

I have stopped playing poker for a while now (specially at the casinos.. didn't get bad beaten even once :(, but came very close twice).. However would be open for a game once in a while with you guys

cheers

Could possibly be used as a site for poker tips?. I used to play quite abit of poker but not so much these days.

I'd be in... :) haven't played online in a while so wouldn't know a good site to use. Can you run private tournaments on betfair?

I'm well up for an Acorn Poker game, i do warn you though i am a very good poker player.

Snapdragon are you new to domains?.

Thanks guys for the feedback.. and no don't mind the tangential discussions on poker.. been a poker fan myself for quite a while..

@Tictak .. been dabbling on and off for a year now.. still trying to get a feel of it.. but joined AD very recently (last week)

I agree with some of the other comments not an exact match term and probably better options in the in the brandable area.
Gambling names are always a bit hit and miss here though I've done a few good sales and had no offers on some I've sold for high £xxx+ on gambling forums.

I'd be up for an acorn game one night

Well I'd be well up for an in-person game if their's enough takers..

I've got a 600 piece tournament ceramic poker set we could use - Or do people prefer to just play online?

better playing live as you can get more tells from body language. Maybe all meet up in a casino in Birmingham/Manchester and hire a poker table for an evening?

sorry to hijack your thread!

No worries on thread hijacking.. I have got a lot of feedback mixed in as well ;)

And while we are off-topic anyways, wanted to ask you guys what you think of Mortgages.dk.

I consider it to be one of my top picks and have received a couple of low-ball offers (or atleast what I consider low-ball) of sub-200EUR but I really think this domain should be worth atleast 2000EUR or should I counter-offer and settle for something in the 500EUR range if they accept?

What makes that any more valuable than the word "mortgages" with any other non-UK domain extension? That's the question you have to ask yourself. If people in Denmark don't use the term, why would it reach your target figure?
