hi all

ok can someone recomend the best way to optimize names on ND :)

Ask Edward would have been good.

Ask Edward have been good.

Edward Russell if he was a leaf...

Ah, the school jokes...

So Mr. Laskos, what sort of names are you looking to optimze.

Basically, we have 5 levels of optimization ranging from super-fast to very complex:

1-click pages:

1. Set a keyword
This sets one-click ads and the 12 related searches on the left, as can be seen through the magnifyer.

2. Set a keyword and a header
This does the same as above, but puts a nice header at the top of the page.

3. Set a keyword, header and main category
Same as above but with 4 high-paying, high-searched links at the top of your related searches. Each category also has a default header as can be seen in the header preview.

4. Set a keyword, header, main category and subcategory.
Same as above but with 4 high-paying, high-searched and even more targeted to your specific domains.

5. Set a keyword and header and send us a txt file with 12 hand-picked related searches which you'd like on your domain. This really ensures that every link on there is one specified by you.

2-click pages.
The related searches are currently the only bit on here which changes and are governed in the same way as the one-click pages' related searches.

Foreign domains.

If you have domains where most viewers will be non-English or non-German speakers, the best way to optimize them is to set a keyword in that language and a header with no related searches.

Phew.

Let me know if you have any other specific quesitons.

Talking of optimising

Does anyone have suggests for share related keywords and approx current ppc

blimey ed!
I might have to go back and look at this optimization on ND - i dont think i've done anymore than set a keyword :S

....or perhaps i have :D

seem the easy to use interface puts all this optimisation at your finger tips!
well done mate

Hi OB,

Just a quick look on the system of UK share domains with more than 20 clicks in the system, then the best keywords seem to be

"shares stocks" at $0.32
"online share dealing" at $0.39

These would be the best for shares I believe.

errr. I'll handle this one I think.

When we first started NameDrive, I honestly thought that this would be the only thing that would ever get anyone interested in us. We saw ourselves as such tiny fish that we had to offer all and every carrot available. We are still tiny fish, but, 5.5 months into being, we have had two inquiries at all about this service. It is to my eternal shame that I still have a post-it note on my laptop to finish off a portfolio analysis I started at the beginning of December for a member of this board... I'm amazed I haven't received a bombardment of abusive emails about it...

At any rate, it appears that the popularity of this feature isn't nearly as much as we anticipated so we pretty much disbanded it. Our homepage is going to undergo a face lift pretty soon as we still see it very much as a page that was suited to us in September 2005 rather than 2006.

Having said this, we are always on hand to discuss any specifics about your account and to try and get the most out of it (including optimization). We are continuing to develop our traffic tools to help you analyse what is going on in your domains and we are still implementing some fun new stuff in the future.

Is this an evasive post? Most likely, but better to be upfront right?

guys...? guys...

Beat me with sticks.

Any tips on how you would have gone about valuing a portfolio (if you had chosen to value a portfolio).

Was it a sort of traffick related valuation process.

It was actually more an analysis of the portfolio traffic than the value of the portfolio itself.
We do deal in traffic portfolio sales as a separate arm and are currently looking into an interesting deal for a couple of your number's portfolios. The portfolio analysis was more 'which pages are receiving traffic from where and how are we going to best optimize / monetize them'. To be honest (and keep Olebean happy :)), we are still implementing some tools which we believe are vital in offering a wide range of options which you can use with each name individually. This involves some custom pages which some of you might have seen, as well as offering a range of different parking pages to choose from - we're designing these currently. However, doing a traffic analysis on UK domains is largely a no-brainer and this is where 100% (both) of our inquiries on this have come from :)
We are also very happy to provide our insight into how we see the value of specific domains and, if you are planning to sell your portfolio, to look into getting offers on the names for you.

Ed

edit: I might just add here that we deal exclusively with traffic sales rather than inherent value sales. So, if you have fantasticname.co.uk which you believe is worth millions but earns little in traffic revenue (a sad fact for many .co.uk names), but if you have names which are earning well with clean traffic, then we can gladly get offers in for you.

Always a pleasure :)

I was just optimizing a shares domain and had to refer to my own post! Memory like a sieve.

Have a good evening all.

Optimizing needs to be done to a music background. Just listening to the 'Living Daylights' by A-ha. If you have a copy. Have a listen. The first words he sings are... NameDrive. Or something along those lines.

Astonishing.

Hey driver, where're we going
I swear my nerves are showing
Set your hopes up way too high
The living's in the way we die

close ed - i could possibly give you that.
when you get old everything starts to blur :D
