Is anybody renting a business mail drop address for their domain work? Just thinking it might be about time to separate home life with business life.

I like the sound of something like:

XEC Internet, 123 Regent Street, London Tel 0845 000 000

Recommendations gratefully received.

Stephen.

Image is everything Rodders :)

It's a tricky one this - I think working from home is so prevalent these days that it's much more accepted and hence less of an issue.

Sure some people will look down on it but I don't think it's anywhere near as much of an issue as it used to be.

It's a double edged sword though - people can zoom in on an aerial map of your gaff, see how much you paid for your house, etc etc.

The big beef I have with mail drop addresses and the like is that, in my experience, they tend to stand out as being rather obvious. And you only need to put the back end of the address in Google to have it confirmed. And then you start to wonder - is this business I'm dealing with renting a full suite of offices, or are they just taking the mailing address option and working from home?

So I wouldn't bother

You could do a traditional PO Box, this is only about £120/year with the mail being delivered to you (half that if you call in and collect it in person)

Thanks - the main reason for doing is that I am trying to set up some active marketing of domains so want to create a bit of kudos. Also, again, trying to keep home life separate to business life.

PO Box is interesting - I used to have them for mail order business - not sure they would work for domain marketing really though.

Keep the thoughts coming! All appreciated.

Stephen.

I used to have a Royal Mail PO Box - only because I lived in a flat and the mailbox wasn't as "secure" as I would like. I never really had any problems, apart from the odd person who would tell me that "PO boxes are dodgy".

The major downside of a PO Box, and the only one that I can think of, is that you can only really accept inbound stuff from the Royal Mail and Parcelforce. If someone sends you anything by DHL, City Link, FedEx, etc they can't (and won't) deliver to it. They will either return to sender or send you a letter (second class) telling you to contact them because they've got a parcel for you. A real ache if someone's sent you something urgent.

Ive always worried that something is up or that I may get scammed when I see these types of addresses.

Id much rather deal with someone showing their true name and location.

Phone line

Also if your after like a London Tel number take a look at http://Gradwell.com VoiP and hosting guy's.

Just got myself a choice of city area code and quite a good land line number too.

So you could have a 020-7766 3322 or 01482 321 123 any city in UK

Only £4 a month UK Calls out going just 1.25 pence per minute. ( it's set up more for incoming calls so wouldn't get a bill just number and line rental of £4 per month)

You can get a box you plug into your router too that turns power ran normal phones into voip

It just like you said keeps things separate and at £4 a month bargin!!! :)
