Hi all,

I have a question, that I did ask domain monster over the phone, but it was left unanswered.

1, if a domain is added for a back order on the day on the drop, the order gets processed and you receive a conformation email saying the domain has been processed.

Does it start polling straight away?

Many thanks...

(Reason for asking testing against it...)

Others may have had a difference experience, but from what I have found the answer is no.

I backordered a domain on the drop day and received the confirmation email. However, the system didn't catch it and I was able to manually register it later that day.

Saved me about £35 which was a bonus so I'm not complaining, but would have been annoying if it was sat there 'free to reg' and someone else managed to manually register it before me (when the system could have caught it with no competition).

If this is always the case, they should make it clear like pretty much all the other public catchers do (i.e. drops must be submitted before drop date).

Really grateful for your post WB...

I have also had mixed results, so really unsure....

The lady over the phone @ domain monster, said it would be straight away and then back tracked after a few more questions.

To be honest, I think there backorder service is very good for a private catcher.

Anyone else have any experiences?

They do catch quite allot. But as for leaving your credit card details. Beware.

We have twice been billed for catches we never even booked. After the first mistake they blamed us and said we had the catch in our list. Even though we didn't. They also said they couldn't make mistakes like that as there systems were good.

So when we got an email and a credit card charge for another caught domain we hadn't booked it just showed us that their systems were flawed.

The scary thing was. The last domain they said they caught and charged my card hadn't even dropped and had been continuously registered for years with an expiry date a year ahead???

After complaining and showing them that their systems were flawed so the first mistake was also theirs. They still refused a refund for the first two domains caught and insisted still it was me at error. They did give a £25 credit to me though. Which was not really appreciated.

Having said that if you speak to the said young lady and ask for your credit card details to be removed and dummy ones added so you can still catch I would highly recommend their catching service.

You regularly see them catching some really good ones.

@ Caz,

Many thanks for your post... and very interesting thoughts.

My beta script (when polling for 10 to 12 hours a day on one domain) seems to beat there script every time now, after weeks and weeks of testing and tweaking... It’s a starting point.

I just wasn’t sure if domains added on the day counted as well.

I will be going through bank statements today as well now, thank you for your time and your feedback.
