DMOZ is a waste of time IMO... Never used it, never will unless it is completely changed. It's just a jumped up directory of old, out-of-date, pointless sites...

Straight to the point then!! Yer your prob right, some style lasts forever just with a little change, but DMOZ does seem very 1999 still ! Shame :( I think Yahoo still has it and its search results are looking excellent!!

I agree 100%, i used to wonder why my submissions never got in! then i found the DMOZ forum, just read the "dmoz editors" forum, no wonder they never get in, i cant believe these people are in charge of such a important internet resource!

seems to me these people are a bunch of "tea and scone" anoraks who struggle to get a grip on reality, never mind the internet!

Now you can see that Google has also dropped the recommendation to submit your site to DMOZ.

check here

Mmm, interesting! could this be the first signed of google disassociating its self from dmoz?

or maybe they have come to realize recommending you submit is just a fools errand.

all i know is i submitted a couple of sites 8 months ago... and i still haven't heard a thing

Hi Alex, don't hold your breath mate!

They used to try and kid us that it was all important to make sure your submission is correct etc

but you can spend 3 days researching existing listed sites and constructing your submission accordingly and it wont make a blind bit of difference, the truth is your editor for that section is probably out looking for weird and wonderful (quite often useless) sites to put in his section.

if you seriously want to get your sites in, go check out the dmoz forum and see what your up against (especially in the dmoz editors section)

also kicking up a gentle stir on there can help sometimes, but only if you do it right
you have to show them the respect they don't deserve

seriously, if you approach it from the angle of "what am i doing wrong" you may get somewhere.

you have probably noticed, I'm not a fan :)
