I've recently parked a couple of websites using namedrive.

I have the knowledge to set up websites so I'm wondering if I'd stand a better chance of making some money through click throughs by setting up my own index page with some relevant content to the domain name and using googles adsense.

I'm interested in trying to generate some traffic and revenue then selling the domain name at a later date.

It would only take a few hours to set up an index page with some content, the question is, do you think the chances of generating hit's would be improved.

Try which works, I used to make £3 a month out of one domain, switched it to content and made £25+, on another nothing then switched to content £100, switch from £2 a day parking to nothing with content - missed out now though as it was one off traffic probably.

Try whichever works, if nothing try and sell it. I think parking is over hyped but for some it works, I've neve really had many high traffic domains but if you hold 1000 domains and they make £50,000 a year, then you don't need to bother with anything else.

Thanks for quick response, I wasn't sure if I was on the right track by adding my own content.

I'm looking at googles adsense or maybe some adds from amazon for related books.

Are there any more 'ad' programs worth considering?

Thanks once again, added to favourites for now.

I'll have a good read later, cheers

I've been reading some info on namedrive.

Am I right in thinking that parked domains don't show up in search engines and require direct navigation to them?

Where as a content built parked page built by myself has better chance of showing up in serch engines.

Ok I have a couple parked already, so if they're not going to show up in search engines I'm going to have another way to get some direct navigation.

Other than adding the url to my sigs in forums what else could I do to gain some direct navigation?

Any links to tips on the subject for me to read?

Or should I just add some content, perhaps a blog where I could add some suitable uptodate news to attract visitors.

Direct navigation means natural type-in traffic, adding a link in your signature is NOT direct navigation. Also, parking companies expect traffic to landing pages to be natural traffic ie. type-in/existing directory listings/existing backlinks - linking to your own parked pages is not really the done thing.

i see, I'll refrain from it.

Well if you can't link then how are people supposed to some across your domain then?

Why would anyone want to type in the name of my parked domain. Unless it's a slight mis-spelling of a popular domain.

Hmm, I'll have to think about this whole domain parking thing and maybe just register and park domains that I have future plans for.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my beginner questions.
