Having almost lost a ton of photos and files off my laptop*, I'm going to beef up my external harddrive. Since I'm going to do that, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any DVD ripping software to copy some of my old DVDs to harddisk?

* - The harddrive was corrupt and Windows wouldn't boot, but managed to find a utility from Numus Software, which worked a treat! Far cheaper than using a data recovery specialist.

If you looking easy and quick no frills dvd2one,dvdshrink, ripit4me, RipBot264, MakeMKV ( not so good bluray ?)are all pretty good afterdawn.....com doom9 have guides revs etc

Genuine question - Is it possible to do this automatically then?
Or does it involve manual uploading?

Yes it can be automatic, but quality depends on price.
We offer it to businesses at a business level pricing and it is brilliant. The same software as apple and adobe use.
Home level stuff is cheaper for a reason.
One thing I would say is avoid LiveDrive. Ive seen no end of lost data from them.

dvdshrink was good back in the day now its usaually quicker to just download a copy of the film.

I recommend WinX DVD Ripper Platinum. Really easy to use and you can output videos to .avi, .mp4, .mpg, to iphone, PSP, etc. Quality is pretty good as well.
