Received this today:

Dear Site Owner,

I represent a company whose interests include operating a successful, reputable games-related website. Our client would like to purchase advertising on your website. Please contact us to discuss this possibility in further detail. We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Tiffany Walker

Seems fake, and was sent to a site that gets little traffic. Just wondered if anyone else has received, and maybe even answered and had dealings with whomever this is?

Mike.

I've had this too.

If the return email bounces - what's the point of sending it? There's no other contact info etc.

Some use it to gauge interest within specific fields as to possible advertising outlets without having to give out any info... have even heard Naughty isp just doing it to take up other companies band width slowing there servers down etc basically pissing of the competition a few million people replying at the same time can upset some servers… or could be a glitch in a mailing program

i had something similar and followed it up for a laugh no intention of going ahead with anything they went on to offer me 5k for a domain worth about $20 lmao.
could be one for spam also i dont mind a bit of spam i usually dont use my main accounts for anything that could get spammed anyway so they are nearly spam free for now
