Back on Track - $300,000 Country Code Sale Leads a Solid Week in the Domain Aftermarket

i hope these are real, i think coms went for a ton a while back but dont know about you i always use term credit check, and being a three word on a .co.uk personally think , but see for yourself, and there were 2 of them

thing that made me think hmmm, was a few weeks ago, this unreal sale happened too
http://dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2008/domainsales08-19-08.htm

by the same people, nokta. but domain was sold through afternic? registrant on these makes it look like nokta is a registrar too and individuals can list through them onto afternic?
anyone?

$300k is a lot for a three word .co.uk

I'm with you on "credit check" or "credit score"

Good thread on it on DomainState.com - .com News & Views - DN Journal Sales Report: Back on Track - Domain Sales Rebounded Strongly This Week - seems legit :)

Going by my knowledge there was roughly £160,000 of turnover of sales in .co.uk in the last 3 weeks that I know of - not counting dnjournal listed stuff. I think it was Sedo's report of 2007 that mentioned 60-70% of all domain sales are kept quiet. Very easy to do dodgy maths on it all , but it does seem the market is very active still.

Bargain of the month / week / year has to go to barry for Breaks.com @ €50,000, I just love the name :)

yep seems that way.
i checked and it was actually nokta that SOLD that triplecredireport.com thing for 300k , yet bought these? hmm. maybe they have buyer lined up, who knows. all seems legit as went thru afternic and Sir.Ron checked out.
still nuts buys imho, totally nuts but i think .co.uk has definitely established itself as the daddy of cctlds past year or two

as far as Breaks.com, that is incredible. offered on this in past myself and felt sure seller wouldnt take less than 100k. incredible name. now THIS is a name you can sell everything and just make this site your job and company. HUGE potential. very much a British term though, but thats a big enough market. guess aussies and canadians may use too but yanks dont.

well done Bazza. add it to your list of gems

Nokta sold the two .co.uks, not sure why the DNJournal guy is saying they were the buyer on that thread??

Interesting... (says the man with CheckYourCredit.co.uk and RepairYourCredit.co.uk ;) )

I guess there is a differnece between 'check' and 'report' as report gives the impression im getting something more tangible, and hence part with £ at later date?

Yes, of course there is a difference but these sales still can't do any harm!

Strange how 2 high priced UK names have only 3 page index listing on Google.co.uk .. 2 are from this Acorn thread and 1 is from Sedo ..

Both names go to PPC landing pages ... $370K for PPC as if thats going to make any real money any time soon ...

freecreditreport.co.uk - Google Search

Google also says that 'credit report' is top ranked search term by volume and 'free credit report' is second. 'Free' makes no money, but upselling does :)

Who knows what the plans are, I doubt they would leave them as PPC for very long.

Personally I think credit reports are going to grow in the uk as peoples finances get more and more up the creek.

Similarly it is like saying classiccarmagazine.co.uk - Google Search , Acorn thread is top ranked does that mean its worthless? ;) There are a few other examples including a largeish purchase I made recently, and the fact Acorn is higher than the real site did not even cross my mind when buying.

There again its a big sale, which always seems  to some, not sure why though as 60,000 a month using your exact term searching for a product worth £12 on average it would be straightforward to make it pay back within a decent timeframe for someone with the knowledge and interest.

Add on some capture stuff and selling on leads to those interested in credit reports... it does make alot of sense for someone in that market.

So what are you saying Rob thats a wise buy ... To me that sale is highly suspect of hype it's a 4 year old name always been a PPC according to Archive.org .. no-one pays that sought of money without at least a glimpse of type-in traffic/back links or Goog position .. i dont buy it .. (thats just me) i have a number of credit type report names they make bugger all on PPC and even less as affiliates.

Classiccarmagazine.co.uk .. may well be worthless as no-one bid on the name .. it's Google page position was destroyed by yours truly by placing the name on PPC it is now withdrawn from PPC ... The name has natural type-in traffic .. It also had a lot of other relevent names included that also have traffic plus Goog page position it also had over 5.5k visitors in a 30 day period ... that name will come back in the rankings if i put together a new site.

Acorn often ranks higher than the domain being discussed/offered for sale and this has a negative side, the Adult domains attract the wrong kind of traffic or spammers.

We have discussed not allowing the adult section to be indexed before now but then people there want to promote their domains for sale in the search engines.

I think it was a good buy. It has decent search traffic, and anyone spending $300k isn't going to expect a turnaround profit in x months - they will be in it for the long haul...

In that case don’t you guys think .co.uk version is a must have?

There is a glimpse - google search volume indicates that for people looking for "credit reports" that is the second most popular term with roughly 720,000 people a year looking *directly* for it. Not massive figures but significant all the same.

Exactly :) The name is not worthless and a potential buyer would not give a toss about google ranking as that can be sorted afterwards. It depends on long term plans for names...

Nah its rubbish, give it to me for a fiver ;)
