Does anyone know what the criteria is for you to be put on the front page of DomainLore (without having any bids)?

Reason I ask is because a few have gone up there of late. Incidentally all by the same owner (Freeze Media). My question is, are his domains THAT premium - or is it more likely that FM and DL are pals?

When submitted a domain for auction, if you add a ! to the start of the domain, it will be sent for review by Denys for 'spotlight'. Cannot speak for Denys, but generally if a domain has an almost certain chance of selling (such as LLL's etc), it will be accepted for spotlight, as there is little point DL taking £5 from you only to have to reimburse it.

So for example Freeze had expression submitted as 'spotlight'. It was always going to sell, and fetched £622 in the end.

On the whole, Denys' decisions on what is deemed 'spotlight' do result in sales; rarely do you see a spotlight auction finish without a bid, so on the basis that spotlight equals 'will sell', then he gets it right 99% of the time.

As for Domainlore as a marketing tool, I don't think it was ever Denys intention to promote as an end-user service; it was a means of allowing domain investors to trade domains, which it does very well.

End-users seem rare visitors/biddres and suspect in the majority of cases only when prompted in outbound promotion by the seller. I had a ~£9k end-user sale on there; I believe the second highest sale in DL history.
