I've been keeping an eye on DL recently to try and get an understanding of what works and what doesn't.

I've noticed recently that a lot of gambling/casino/betting/bingo domains are selling, many of them brandables.

Is it simply the case that domains in this niche tend to be in high demand, or just that somebody in this particular moment in time is looking to acquire a substantial number of them?

Do domains in this niche typically do pretty well?

I suspect because a couple of individuals have been placing pre-bids on DL, that any other similar domains already owned are now being thrown on there to capitalise from these buyers. I sold one of them today, but that was caught the other day.

Thanks that makes sense....

.... evidence that a potential buyer or two is in the market for some names, gamble a couple of fivers on seeing if they like the look of your similar domains?

That the gist?

Just seen that there are tonnes more gambling domains in the deleting list.

Can somebody give me a rough idea of what's happening here.

So basically, loads of gambling related domains are dropping, and people are seeing this as a good time to add a few more gambling related domains to the "hidden gems" section, which seems to have worked out..... with 5 or 6 sales.

Along these lines?

You would have to have a look at the backlinks etc they might have been burned with the search engines.

There is a lot of money in the gambling niche hence its very competitive seo wise many of these brandable types may just be churn and burners.

Are the sales actually going through?

Wasn't there a guy bidding and winning but then asking for transfer without paying up?

This DTMLtd bidder seems to be transferring them all into different names, something is dodgy.

Maybe it's Grant Shapps

No issue here with DTMLtd, prompt payment, though hasn't accepted transfer yet.

I stand corrected - not trying to derail anyone's sales, sure I read something here about prebids not being honoured but maybe got the wrong end of the stick

That is true, but it wasn't this individual, they bid on none gambling related domains too.

I hope the fraudster isn't the bidder on my DL auction then! Surely he'll have been blocked by IP now though?

No idea, but if someone's intent on making mischief it's easy enough to get round an IP ban

Well, I got the money, but transfer pending at his registrant which doesn't surprise me given who they use.
