Hi

I actually got accepted by Adsense but am not entirely sure how it works. I joined by quoting a url related to motor vehicles but since I ,like many on here,
have domains in many different areas CAN I use the same adsense account for
each and every domain name ?. How does google know what type of ads to generate ,i.e. for a car related web site obviously it will produce ads related to cars, but if I use same account on website for financial services will it still then produce car ads ??

Would appreciate some pointers on this

Thanks
DG

This is the reply yo that question I recieved:

Thank you for your interest in Google AdSense.

AdSense uses the strength of Google's contextual targeting technology to
provide you with ads that are so relevant to the content of your pages,
readers actually find them useful. Using a sophisticated algorithm, we're
able to determine the meaning of any web page and serve ads from our pool
of AdWords advertisers that are relevant to that page at that moment. Our
technology takes into account factors such as linguistics, keyword
analysis, word frequency, font size, and the overall link structure of the
web.

Hope that helps

OK I have had Google Adsense running for couple of days and it says CTR is 35%. Is that a good CTR ?.

Also, can someone tell me please, does Adsense pay when someone clicks the advert rather than actually buy something ??

Thanks
DG

You get paid for the click not the sale. It's believed that you get about 60% revenue share and google get 40% of the price the advertisers pay. However, this varies depending on the quality of the traffic you send to the advertisers. If the perceived quality goes down (in googles eyes) then the revenue share goes down or it could be the amount the advertisers pay, something like that.

One thing to take into account is if one of your sites is deemed to send poor quality traffic to advertisers google will reduce what you get from all your sites, so make sure all your sites are serving relevant ads.

As for the CTR 35% is pretty good, my sites get between 8% and 40% Some people can get near 100% and some less than 1% (typically forums and blogs who have a high proportion of returning visitors who after a while don't even see the ads)

Funny thing is, the better your site the less people click on the ads, to make the most you need a site people can't wait to leave ;)

LOL, thanks and noted. What I was contemplating doing was this. Say I
have domain ,for example, xyz.com and visitors actually were looking for
a company called "xyz " ,just above the Google ads I was going to put along the lines "To visit the xyz website please click on one of the google banners below" . Would that work do you think ?.

Against their terms and a sure way to get banned. You might get away with it for a while but once they find out you will be banned and any money you have made but not been paid will be lost. You get paid at the end of the following month so you are always owed between 4 and 8 weeks money. You would lose all this if you were banned.

Also for relevant ads to show you need some content on your site so they know what ads to serve up.

Oh no ,dont get me wrong there is lots of information but as I say i was considering putting the words "click one of the above google(tm) banners to proceed" .What part of that would be against their terms and conditions ?.

Thanks

OK thanks very much for that Paul. I wasnt doubting you at all, just like to
know nitty gritty. Hmm, I shall stick to the rules I think.
