Hi,

weve been an ISP since 1993, seems eons ago, during that time have collected many domains, some registered since that time, were now gradually releasing them for sale.

recently sold transcom.com for £40000 and ibb.co.uk for £x,xxx

lest see what happens !

Regards

Bill

Welcome to the forum. Some nice sales you had there!

Thanks, think it was really a case of need with those two, we will see how we get on with the others, just making a list to post now.

Welcome to the forum. What's your best and worst domains?

That some price for a non-generic mate, well done. Wasn't the double 'mm' version taken over by BT some years ago?

Was more of a surprise really, registered it in 94 I think, had to pay £500 a year then. Kept getting pestered by a luxembourg company to buy it and ignored them, and by doing this, not knowingly, the offer kept going up.. You can check the website to see they are a very big corporate.

They've now opened a uk office and are chasing transcom.co.uk , i think its worth the same to them, well see what happens, still have the .net, .biz, .tv

BT have registered a trademark against the mm version, but way after we registered it, also, in the states, transcom is military as far as Im aware, so even the others may be worth a fortune.

Can only wait and see !

Cheers

Bill

Welcome Bill, good to see more experience joining Acorn. Look forward to your contributions and insight.

Welcome Bill

Wow, £500 a year, thats how much it was, I always think what if but in 94 that would made sure I starved.

transcom.ws is still available, I'd pick it up but already done my daily domain purchase.

Kind Regards
Leon

Hi Leon,

yep Ive often wondered that too, it was all a chance, Id actually registered datastream.com only to get very threatening letters from Bird & Bird solicitors and they threatened me so much that I dropped it, but at the same time just registered transcom.com as it was the first name that came into my head.

The company I used was Exnet in london, and then Demon Internet (cliff Stanford) just as he was starting, then did all the rest, ie, .co / .net etc.

Luck I suppose, but I could have registered anything then, but at £500 a pop, bit too much.

At £500 a go a lot have people would have seen it as a big risk, well done you, I think its still possible to get innovative names, I recently picked up biofuelcell.co.uk you never know, just like in back to the future, I would love to put a banana skin in my car instead of fuel at 109.9 per litre.

Do you still hand reg domains?

Kind Regards
Leon
