Hi everyone at Acorn!

My name is Sam. I am the community manager here at Domainmonster.com.

I just wanted to sign up to be involved in this great community and help when I can. If anybody has any questions about Domainmonster then I'll be your "rep" so to speak.

Hopefully I can help a few people out along the way!

See you on the boards!

Thanks
Sam

Welcome Sam! I've been recommending your service to domain buyers when they don't have an existing registrar relationship.

welcome Sam
be great if you could look into possibly an 'acorn' member dropcatching rate as many are finding monsters new price a bit on the steep side
i used to backorder quite often but now that price it's very rare I will use monster

apart from that I think DM are a very good company
it';s rare that can be said about a UK registrar as most are borderline useless

Hi Sam,
I really like Domain Monster. Had quite a few catches from you and have to say the strike rate I get compares a lot better than with other catchers I've used.

Currently considering moving all my domains over from 123-reg who I've had ongoing bad experiences with.

Welcome to the forum anyway!

Well thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

@edwin - Thanks for recommending us Edwin!

@pred - Unfortunately I think it's unlikely that we would be able to provide this pred. With our back orders being no-win no-fee I think they already provide excellent value for money. We have a great success rate where .uk domain names are concerned. We don't try and auction the domain after snapping, you know exactly what you will pay for the catch up front, which I believe is part of the reason our back orders have been so popular. With the market becoming more competitive as time goes on we are trying to stay ahead all the time. Unfortunately this incurs extra costs as we develop our systems and provide even more catches for you guys! I hope that gives you some kind of explanation as to where the costs come from and makes you feel like you are still getting good value for money?

@mattyr45 - Matty are you using Firefox or Chrome? A few users have had to clear their browser cache before being able to register domains again. So try clearing your cache and starting the process again. This should fix the issue for you. If not please let me know and I will have a closer look!

@stellar73 - Thanks for the compliment! We do have an excellent catch rate. Hopefully this will only improve over time as we develop and refine our systems. Glad to hear that you have been successful. If you need any help with transfers etc. then just let me know!

And thanks to you all again for the warm welcome!

Sam

yep, fair enough Sam

like I say dm have a good rep on acorn
that's rare :), so you must be doing things right

Welcome! I have been using domainmonster for years. Great customer service.

@pred Thanks for understanding! I hope you'll continue to use the service anyway. I can tell you the snap rate is second to none. Especially for all the .co.uk fans here at Acorn Domains.

@mat Thanks for the welcome Mat! Have seen your input on our Twitter account recently! I am also in control of that. Great to see customers being our ambassadors. It's the best form of review we could wish for! :)

Hey Sam, welcome !
Enjoying the new site design, and also the great friendly/honest/useful tweets.
You have an ongoing customer here, for sure !

Steve :)

@KingDomainNames Glad you are enjoying them Steve! Good to have you on board!

Another +1 for Domain Monster. Great customer support.

My only complaint. I would like to be able to grant technical access to my hosting account. Bit of a pain in the ass having to grant full access to my account to allow someone to set up server / ftp / wp installs etc

Sorry caz, I too like DM. I've been hooked since they gave away a free domian a few years back through .net magazine.

I've got to say I did use there back order system once and beat them by hand registering it before them.

That said they must of improved because they got me a cracker the other week!!

@mojoco You can create FTP accounts to give users access to your FTP and assign them permissions for the specific site you want them to work on. WP installs can be done using a one click installer if people need it done. You can also set up a passphrase so your developer can ask for changes to be made over the phone, i.e. if they need WordPress installed on a domain. Hope that helps somewhat?

@Caz Why no love for the Monster :(

@killaclown Thanks! When was the back order made when you beat us by hand registering? Must have been a while ago as our back order system has been extremely successful in recent times as you have experienced yourself! :)

@DomainManagement I certainly will! Glad he could help!

Thanks, I am aware of that Sam. What I would like is that I can allow a user restricted access to set up hosting, assign ftp permissions, one click installers etc without being able to access my account info.

Oh I see mojoco. This is functionality that we will be looking to implement in the near future. Apologies it is currently not available on the platform but I hope you can use the other options I mentioned for the time being. Remember our support team are just a call away and are always happy to help with any required changes.

Life's too short and so much good press for DM I don't want my two experiences in a now positive thread. So removed.

@caz - I'm so sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with us Caz. Reading the other comments on this thread hopefully improves your opinion of us! As a company, we will always refund you if we have charged you incorrectly through any fault of our own. I completely understand that the situations you mentioned were frustrating. If you wish to discuss the circumstances surrounding your individual case feel free to PM me and I will have a look at the history of the account. If we are at fault we will refund any payments. It is always the way we have operated.

Can you sort out your bulk search when backordering!

After bulk search you click backorder on a domain, if domain is already backordered you click return to search button, it then returns you to the single domain search screen for the domain you just tried to backorder and wipes out the bulk list. You then have to go back to bulk search paste the list and start again over and over and over.

The same issue also sometimes occurs when the domain is available to backorder.

Highly annoying and I rarely have the patience to even bother backordering with you these days.
