hello everyone i have a basic website that i use for my full time business, i`ve tried fiddling about with content and repeating key words to try and get higher in the ranks of google but to no avail. the site thats were i wanna be doesnt have certain keywords in the text, but still gets a higher ranking for searches. and only has the main key word in the text 4 times..( where as i have it about 15 times)

is it more important to keep your key words to a minimum as in dont repeat it, and do you get a better ranking the more links you have.

thanks for any help

Good backlink quality is what you need to increase your organic ranking.

maybe a silly question but how do i get that? is it just a case of searching for advertising sites and adding my site url?

thanks for the reply

Have quality content or tools that people naturally link to, the better quality sites that link the better the effect, add a blog and write about your industry news/events, create viral advertising, many many methods.

You can do lots of work searching for places for backlinks, but if you can manage it it's much better to provide content that people will want to link to: that way others do the work for you. Depending on your site it's even better if you can provide some sort of useful widget that will attract links, eg a mortgage calculator.

IF you want question solutions to gain linkse you can go after traditional solutions such as:
- Article syndication
- Directory submission
- Press releases
- etc

Search engine optimization 2008

Always keep your content look natural and never go overboard when targeting a particular keyword.

Search engines do not like any sort of manipulation which was prevalent in 2005-2006. During this period I observed websites with 100 <H1> tags and they were found ranking on top of search engines.

If you are targeting a particular keyword then do not repeat it unnecessarily on your web page.
