I think 20 posts for newbies is a great idea!

Hi, as you may have guessed, I'm a newbie. I've just been reading an older, closed thread asking why a newbie should have to post twenty nonsensical posts before being allowed to post for sale.

Well, I think having to post twenty times is a great idea, and why should it be assumed that these posts must be nonsensical? This, like all the best forums, is a community and that's what drew me to it in the first place. When you're a newbie you tend to worry that posting a lot is putting yourself forward too much, but since you have to here that's obviously not a problem.

There are so many good things about domaining (as with all true passions) other than buying and selling domains. It's fun to read other people's opinions and questions and to post your own. It's great to read what everyone else is buying and selling, and the kind of names they choose. There's so much to learn and being encouraged to participate in the forum makes this all the easier.

So I think you've got the message - you'll see me around a lot (though maybe not as much as Beeno, lol) and I look forward to reading everything posted by everyone else.

Pues yo para poder poner a la venta 5 dominios,me voy a tener que volver loko leyendo/escribiendo post. ;)

Allie,

Yes it's a community to sell domains, but we were finding that people were registering just to post names every couple hours and making no other contribution to the site.

There are on average 250 members a day on here, finding 20 things to say shouldn't take long at all.

We want members here for the long run who get involved.

Look forward to seeing you around.

I totally agree with your reasoning, Admin. So why the 'but'? :)

Sorry, Admin. Just me being picky, picky. :)

Glimglo: Que va? Creo que no es un buen argumento, porque la toda idea es para el beneficio de la comunidad!

I'm a newbie also, and tend to lurk rather then post as im still learning and probably have nothing of value to contribute, however I have no problem with the 20 posts either, even if it will take me a few months to reach that figure, not that i'm desperate to sell anything or have anything worth selling :D

Also just wanted to say that its a great forum, and i have learned a lot in the small amount of time i have been here from the wealth of experience that is in this community :)

Jason will you be buying any more domains from ebay? :)

Since you guys decided to hijack my thread, let me just say to DB that I think his bad language on the other thread was totally unnecessary. I also object to the use of the word 'retard' on that thread, and would like to say that some of those of whom that name is regularly used by ignorant people would put those posters to shame with their maturity and understanding of their fellow man.

Jason, if you and your friend really did fall for the purchase of that name the way you claim, then it is a real shame, and a hard lesson, but maybe a useful one at the start of your domaining career. On the other hand, if you were making the story up to satisfy some secret agenda of your own, then you've had another kind of lesson.

By all accounts there are a lot of sharks swimming beneath the surface of this industry. Let's keep this pleasant island the way we found it. :(
