Only because I already have over 100 pages of notes covering exactly what I want to (eventually) do with it. Many of the other names mentioned in this thread are superb diamonds, but I'd have to start thinking from scratch and that's real work

I think quite the opposite.

Maps requires tons of thought and effort. Something like Debthelp.co.uk for example requires some expertly written useful content and a lead form. Done.

I didn't see anyone suggesting debthelp.co.uk as a top domain?

Looking at the names that have been posted, such as hotels.co.uk, jobs.co.uk, insurance.co.uk and so on, they all require major development to take "proper" advantage of, same as maps.co.uk will. Given that, I'd rather start with what I think I know.

Having said that, I would be extremely happy to own any of the top names! But the original post stressed that we had to choose ONE name.

In terms of value, loans.co.uk, mortgages.co.uk, insurance.co.uk, poker.co.uk, casino.co.uk, holidays.co.uk and london.co.uk would all be nice ones to have in the portfolio.

LOL I suggested it in my head prior to posting... my point is still valid in that there are amazing "retire rich" domains that require not much work apart from the seo and ppc.... maps.co.uk imho is not one of those.

Agree - can't really see how to monetise maps without huge amount of work unless Edwin has something really creative up his sleeve. With Open Source products like http://www.openstreetmap.org/ and http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/products/os-opendata.html there is a lot of free product people can use to create some amazing apps.
