Last night I finally bit the bullet and decided to become a member :p and hopefully when I get back later I'll be able to apply for a tag. I noticed I need to provide proof that I've accepted the Tc and Cs, but as at this stage I have no intention of becoming a public registrar so are there any generic terms I can use? I'll have a proper look into it later when I get back.

Just got my Tag

I've just got my tag :p

When I subscribe to the DAC does anyone know if or how I can use it to connect with Domain Name Pro to search more than 1000 domains?

Congrats :)

Nom membership gives voting rights as well as just money off!!

Thanks Rob, I look forward to becoming more active with Nominet issues. I'm just looking through to see how I can put my domains on my own tag.

Just as a quick guide for calculating daily allowances, say someone who has 100 domains becomes a member of Nominet and get the required daq access, then what would be their daily quotas for both daqs?

Your basic Dac is just shy of 450,000 everyone gets that, the delay quota is calculated off your domain list.

Time Delay Dac Daily Access Limit
EQUALS
5 x number of domain names on tag
PLUS
200 x your highest monthly new registration figure from the past 12 months

That latter part is why people like domainmonster, domcollect and public catchers have MASSIVE quotas.

I think it would be 432000 (real time) + 500 (time delay), the rest of the time delay quota is calculated on your highest number of registrations in a month from the previous 12 months, as it's a new TAG I guess that would be zero at the beginning.

At the minute there are zero domain on my tag, so I don't believe I can use the time delayed DAC. However, I believe I can get 432,000 from the real time DAC.

Does anyone use it with Domain Name Pro?

Maybe worth looking at http://www.dacpanel.co.uk/ by Caught.co.uk to administer your tag, then you can easily move all your current names onto your tag to get the delayed dac :)

DropSystem has one too but can't find it.

Hi Alex and welcome to the fold!

You can get our free DAC checker here:

Thanks Dale, I shall look into it, but first I need to apply for DAC. It is asking for my IP address. As yet I have nothing in place to connect to it so what address should I use? I'm not too sure about how it all works yet, but at this stage I was hoping to get access so I could use it to check bulk lists of domains before I do anything else fancy.

I will certainly look into this. As already mentioned I don't really know how this all works yet, all I know are some of the possible uses of once all this is up and running.

Pop in your home / office IP address as the 1st DAC address then you can develop your solution locally and add your hosted IP address when you are happy with your code. From memory, you can have 4 IP's listed.

Thanks Alex, I'll give it a go now. I think this will probably be an ongoing project so all advice appreciated as this really is very new to me. I will hopefully get DAC access in the near future and take it from there.

Now you've got the access, it will always be an ongoing project as you have new ideas how to beat the competition :)

I look forward to the rivalry :D although I think i'm far from competing with anyone. At this stage I'm happy I can get £5 registrations :p
