Notice jude.co.uk dropped and was caught today.

I used to own this domain back in 2002 (manually regged)

I'd had the name for many months when Nominet contacted me and said they had acidentally let it drop and the previous owner wanted it back.

In my naivety I let Nominet have it back, think I'd be a little more possesive if it happened now.

Anyone else ever had this happen ?

Mark.

I am aware of similar cases , I have suggested in the DRS consultation that ther e ought be a cut off point for old owners of names to lay a claim.

Did they compensate you?

They compensated me £100.

If this is a normal thing for Nominet then could you not claim it back for £100 as a previous owner yourself.

maybe not. it seems that the proper choice was to contact Nominet when you noticed name got suspended and claim it back.

Don't think I'd be able to do that as I wasn't the registered owner and the previous owner could have renewed any time up until it dropping.

I think the record is about 18 months after registration that a name is awarded back.

The prenom stuff is a whole different skeleton in the cupboard.
