Hello to everyone.. My name is John and I have been developing domains is my spare time for a number of years (or thou nothing of real substantial)..
Discovered the joy’s of domain parking earlier this year which happily funds further domain purchases.

Am looking forward to learning more about the industry and making new network contacts..
All the best

John

Hello John

A big welcome to the forum!!

I'm still pretty new also

Mally

Thanks for the warm welcome guys & girls..
A small snippet of names I own (not very exciting)..

Flingdate.com _____Oddly my biggest earner (without campaigning)
MSvista.de _______Parked but looking to sell (open to offers)
Wii2.co.uk ________Hoping for a second edition Wii (closely followed by a lawsuit)
Travelbud / Tbud __Starting developing then other projects took over (future use)
Catteries.biz ______Created a free locate a UK cattery site, took it down last year
Yfly.net __________Receives traffic for the .com US community site
Fly.gd ____________Holding out for the great .gd domain explosion (can't see it)

I am currently using parked.com to park my domains as I find the interface simple to get on with & healthy click rates..
Thanks

John

Thanks John.

I doubt that there will be a wii2. The big companies forecast well into the future and would nornally snap up any future generations of the original.

I hope i'm wrong on this one though;)

Have to agree with you.. It’s unlikely Nintendo will name any second addition consol Wii2. as its not like they have in the past and as you said, they would of registered it years ago.
Maybe make a good forum name when I get round to it..

Hi, any .mobi fans out there?

Just a quick hello.... hadn't come across this site / forum before - I've no idea how I've missed it for so long.... just goes to show, no matter how hard you look it's not always easy to find something!

I haven't got many .com / .co.uk etc.. but have taken a medium size punt on the dot mobi tld.....

Are there any more .mobi speculators on this forum?

I have a good number now, starting at 3 characters (e.g. ABK.mobi B2L.mobi)
Plus LondonUK.mobi UKPLC.mobi ClubUk.mobi & loads of random domains / generic searches & company names where a quick Google shows that at least 2 companies share the same name (to avoid accusations of registering in bad faith)..... and a few famous names (as far as I'm aware unless the famous name is unique they have little chance of fighting registration).... and a few brands / similar domains (have a few legal letters about some of those - maybe I hadn't done enough research into 'domain / trademark law' ;-)

& a few charity domains which I intend to gift / sponsor to the relevant charity as my way of putting a little back....

I'm sure I'll learn a lot along the way.... (& not all good I'm sure) but I do believe that the mobile internet will be big big BIG in a few years....

Glad to find a UK forum that has plenty of daily posts....

Regards

Gary

That was a quick hello:???:

Welcome from a fellow 1 r'ed Gary

Ok, let me have both barrels.... ;-)

What do you lot think of dot.mobi?
I'm in..... it's the way the web is going..... everything is getting smaller & going mobile so it's only logical.... I'm in but not because I know what I'm talking about but rather because I know that I don't have a clue what the web & mobile technology will look like in 3, 5 & 10 years time.... & given the speed of technology it looks like .mobi will have a future (all the founding companies / organisations behind it aren't going to walk away & the fundemental thing - in my opinion at least - is that mobile browsers won't need the end user to enter .mobi / .com/mobile or any suffix at all.... simply enter the domain you want e.g google & the device (thats ALL devices) will default to www.google.mobi from an enabled device.... its not so much teaching people to remember to use yet another extension - rather its about dropping the extension altogether! (look whats happened first to the http// and more recently the WWW. prefix.... you hardly ever need to key them in now because most browsers default..... .mobi is the only suffix on the planet that will work by default.... it'll make the key strokes required to enter the address of the mobile pages within a .com site look rather outdated very quickly!

The most recent feedback I heard was (& this is unconfirmed) that when using a .mobi address from a desktop, the software would redirect the user to a full size (non.mobi) site..... so owning a great domain on .mobi could be the only address you ever need (as the 'redirect' address can be a worthless address because no-one will ever need to recall what it was)..... thats why prime .mobi domains are such great value now (as there are many out there unregistered yet... I can get mine for under £6 per annum now! - thats got to be good value surely!!!?

I'm looking forward to someone pointing out my fundemental misunderstanding of how this is going to work (or not)..... I hold my hands up - I'm as green as they come in this game ;-]

Gary
