this morning but I'm struggling with this pgp software.

I've created a key and fingerprint for my email adress registered with Nominet but didn't read the setup instructions on Nominets website first

I think I'm screwed - can anyone help?

Your Best bet is to try TagAdmin.co.uk - this is far the best and the cheapest way of controling your tag

Dave is also a member on this furum so any problems you can catch up with him here!

Cheers Sean, I hadn't heard of this before.

Does anyone know how to get this aweful pgp mess off my system, I can't even send emails properly now....

I'm just filling out the online application for DAC access - and it's asking me for the IP adress of the computer that'll query the DAC.

Does anyone know if this should be my PC's internal IP adress or the public IP adress?

Thanks

Cheers Vizzy

I know both the IP adresses - I just don't know if Nominet want the public or private one - any idea?

It's the public IP address that your ISP assigns to you.

Thanks BB - I was just about to make a wild guess that is was the other one - saved in the nick of time

I've just had to restart my PC for the first time in weeks and it appears I do not have a static IP.

How does everyone get their static IP's?

Hi Vizzy

I'm a bit of a novice when it come to things like servers. I've just looked at the costs and they're pretty similar to what I'm paying for my reseller account.

Some good advice needed now.

If I get a dedicated server, could I host all my sites on it and do away with my reseller account?

How does getting a dedicated server increase the chances of catching?

Can I connect to the internet via my own dedicated server?

Feel free to post any replys, I sure I'm not the only server / hosting idiot on here.

Before you get a dedicated server, make sure you have a program worthy of running on such a server. What I mean is, in order to drop catch, you will need to either build or have built a program that is capable of catching domain names and it will take time to perfect the program with trial and error.

Do all your testing from your home machine and once your happy with your program then you can start thinking about moving on with a dedicated server. There is no point in having a (potentially) fast car with no engine.

Hope this helps.

well, most important is catching software of course.. then comes speed of your connection & pc.

you can use it as a proxy but you need internet to connect to it in a first place =)

Great advice Raider. Getting your TAG is the easy part, now the real headaches start unless you are a skilled programmer or have deep pockets.
