I pick names by instinct in general but have noticed that i get traffic from a number of my domains on sedo but i'm not really sure if its poor/good or excellent amounts.

if anyone would like to click on the sedo link below and maybe comment on the amounts i would be interested to hear what you think

thanks

It is interesting that your highest traffic domain is a hyphen, 3 of my top 5 are hyphens too.

I have found that it is not only the amount of traffic you get that determines how much you earn, it also depends on the genre of the domain.

I regged a loans related domain last week that is getting very few clicks but each one is earning €1.63 where as the rest of my portfolio gets around €0.10 per click.

I agree admin - my loan related domains basically carry the rest of my portfolio. Only been in this for a lucky reg rather than catching drops or active domain sales I rely on the income to cover my 2 yr reg fees. Anything else is a bonus!

open to offers though! :D

Charlie,

Any domains with a less than 15% conversion rate, change the keyword!

I have found doing this can improve the click-through rate and even prompt traffic to star appearing on a domain.

If the domain is a low earner, you dont have much to lose only the time it takes and the wait for Sedo to approve the changes.

I can only go by my own experience but it looks like the traffic to your names is somewhat similar to mine, though slanted at a lower per-name average (I have more "winners" but fewer 1-visitor-per-day+ domains as a percentage).

You have:-

1 domain over 1,000 visits (0.2% of portfolio)
1 domain over 500 visits (0.2% of portfolio)
2 domains over 200 visits (0.41% of portfolio)
4 domains over 100 visits (0.82% of portfolio)
12 domains over 50 visits (2.45% of portfolio)
36 domains over 30 visits (7.36% of portfolio)
Total: 11.45% of your active domains received 1+ visitor/day

My own numbers, for comparison...

2 domains over 1,000 visits (0.13% of portfolio)
6 domains over 500 visits (0.38% of portfolio)
14 domains over 200 visits (0.88% of portfolio)
21 domains over 100 visits (1.32% of portfolio)
37 domains over 50 visits (2.33% of portfolio)
44 domains over 30 visits (2.77% of portfolio)
Total: 7.80% of my active domains received 1+ visitor/day

quite an impressive portfoilio...I bet your reg renewals are a nightmare

I've had domains on sedo for just over a year now.. i reckon your stats are good, its quite intresting about the hyphenated names... i've just picked up meet-singles.co.uk I hope it attracts as much traffic..

cheers

thanks for that break down - how did you do that? :D

Anyway, i'm counting myself pretty lucky at the moment as i reckon you have a lot better domains in your collection in comparison nearly all mine are 2 worders in obscure areas, but i suppose the domains that will work the best are those in specialist areas with the right keywords.

admin also suggested changing the keywords until you hit the right one, i know you have nothing to lose by doing this, it just finding time to do it! :D Its also a balance between the amount of traffic you get - for 1 visitor a month you can hardly make educated guesses about the keywords and again its more of a random choice.

thanks for the feedback guys

I counted the names manually, then popped the data into Excel to work out the percentages.

BTW, forgot that I had 3 domains marked as "not for sale" so my figures should include 3 more 1,000+ domains ;-)

did really well this month
out of 413 domains only 2 didn;t get views

admittedly this doesn't equate to cash but pleased that a majority of my domains are getting views!

no promotion - i think your right you're only allowed to post domains on sales lists and not allowed to link to them etc.

just pleased that even though they aren't high value one worders they are still getting type-ins - if be it only one a month! :D
