If i were to park a very high traffic domain name that mostly gets traffic because of its positions in google for keywords how much am I going to damage it?

Will I have a very sudden drop and lose traffic or should it still rank quite well for months to come??

What is the best thing to do in a scenario like this? Idealy I want to milk it for all the money I can off its traffic but at the same time I dont want to damage how well it sits in the search engines....

ive got that problem too.

methinks that google will not love parked pages as much as a quality site with content thus yout ranking abnd traffic will probably diminish...

I am not a SEO expert but I think it will eventually die down. However, the level of reduction depends on the total number of backlinks. If it has many backlinks the traffic stabilazes at some level, if it has not I think it will lose much. Here is a domain example for you with many backlinks (1,010):

12/05/07 863

12/06/07 852

12/07/07 824

12/08/07 954

12/10/07 790

12/11/07 807

12/13/07 791

12/14/07 750

12/15/07 909

12/16/07 1,289

12/17/07 1,083

12/18/07 926

12/19/07 874

12/20/07 931

12/21/07 869

12/22/07 1,084

12/23/07 1,702

12/24/07 1,225

12/25/07 774

12/26/07 848

12/27/07 864

12/28/07 900

12/29/07 833

12/30/07 1,016

12/31/07 747

01/01/08 600

01/02/08 758

01/03/08 685

01/04/08 654

but at the same time I dont want to damage how well it sits in the search engines....

The above example actually lost its position so I believe there is no way for a parked page
to stay where it was. Again some PPC providers actually allows content inclusion and get domains indexed, ie parked.com.

it will die

Google will slowly drop it.....if it ranks in g already for a decent word then build lots of pages with similar keywords, they also will rank if you link with decent anchor text

Watc out from a making it a made for adsense site....but a decent site with ok ads should get 10% ctr

I would say if you want to make the most of it, then site plus affiliate programmes. Parking is just an extra level of abstraction from the sale, so lower % commissions and less money for you.
