If any of you use the rest API is it functioning for you? Returns a response error with incorrect details but hangs up if correct credentials are supplied - been like this a couple of hours. Nominet support don't ever answer me when I ask about these APIs so coming straight here.

Didn't realize they offered REST, which services can you access via it?

It was down for 4 hours that I know of - nothing from nominet (of course).
You can use it to get info about domains on your tag. However it is only updated once per day. They also offer a SOAP Api which I use as well but that doesn't give you details on all your domains.
Therefore you have the silly situation where you can view a list of your domains with expiry dates, renew one, and when you next load your list it won't show you the new expiry date until the next day. So really it's not too much use and probably why registrars have issues as you cannot trust the information to be *current*.
Still handy for a bulk overview of your account though. All they need to do is provide a list of expiry dates in the soap api (which is current) for all domains and it would be FAR more useful.

Ah, didn't realize they'd added REST, I've used the SOAP API as I had to migrate an app that previously worked really well with the PGP email interface and then was pants after going to the API.

Shame they decided to spend all their surplus money on things not related to the infrastructure otherwise we'd actually have a useful resource. As it is you have to use it in conjunction with your own databases (thus introducing potential sync issues) to get it to do what it should do. Also you have to contend with issues like yesterday where you could get a response only when you attempted to log in incorrectly. Correct attempts just caused a hang at nominet end, scripts to timeout etc as no actual error was ever returned. It reappeared without a murmur or response from nominet - probably preparing another study to see if the demand in umbrellas increases when it's raining or something useful like that. :p

So the REST is no more use than the SOAP then :-(

Are you suggesting the sensors in the car park are not suitable to use in special umbrellas for their staff and you can look put of the window to see if it is wet (or even to see if there's a car park space)
