nice spot Edwin - did a search too and noticed that you specifically mentioned rugs.co.uk in this thread in the summer. Shows it was listed at a £60k fixed price! Must have been nice for the seller when he received the email from sedo saying 'congratulations your offer has been accepted'. Is the seller an acorn member. Is he one of the usual suspects? :p

Rugs.co.uk originally sold at the TRAFFIC Amsterdam show in the live auction. I was chatting in the hallway at the time and missed the action, so I don't know who bought it then, but I know it got quite a bit of attention...

it wasn't a low xxx purchase then Edwin? ...sorry couldn't resist it :p

We have www.rugs.org.uk, just recently started developing/marketing, ranking page 16 :-D lol

Has this sale increased it value?

Seems to be a lot more interest on .org.uk's as good product .co.uk's are becoming rarer to acquire.

Yes I would say it has increased its value, mainly because a big sale like this will alert the army of smaller affiliates out there about the potential for selling rugs online and so demand for a good domain in the sector should increase.

Rgds

you've just got to google 'rugs' to see how many sites sell them in the PPC and natural results, huge market for them!

Great price still!

Well done Admin - what a month October was :) (and it isn't finished yet!) Seems the domain market has followed the rebound in the economy. I can't remember prices being this bouyant for a long time.

It's already on DomainPrices.co.uk - I did a major update recently of .UK sales.

Just eyeing those sales up on DomainPrices.co.uk, the median sale price is looking pretty good these days :)

Possibly because that list isn't complete you can't really infer that. It doesn't include any domains sold on Sedo for less than £478. I sold quite a few in the range of £150 to £450 which are not listed there.

Stephen.

Agree. Sedo are selective in what they release, have sold some that don't appear.

agree it seems likely that not all sales are being reported i.e. very cheap ones however a lot of buyers do request privacy and there may be some other big .co.uk sales that we don't know about.

anything uner about $2k wont appear on dnjournal

if your settings on sedo are not to reveal buys or purchases they wont appear on dnjournal or rss

True. My point though is that the data are interesting in that they show that domains can sell for certain amounts, but absolutely pointless for saying anything about trends etc as only a selective data set is presented.

What you can't say, is that average (or median) sales prices are either up, down or steady. To do so from this data is misleading.
