This question is for the seo experts on this forum. Is it possible to seo a single page domain or is it not worth trying?

So google won't penalise a single page site? I thought I remember reading somewhere that they didn't like them. Obviously there's not much content there but was wondering whether it's worth creating small pages on their own such as 'contact' etc to get past the single page stigma.

Are you going to rank a one page site for a medium or highly competitive keyword? Probably not.

For a smaller business chasing branded searches only, however, a one pager would do the trick.

No penalty, no stigma....no logic that would justify that, you can put everything on one page if you want. Google fast whois - number 1 position is a 1 page site. Not competitive but you haven't mentioned difficulty level.

I've often wondered this about landing pages for domain sales pages.is it worth making an effort . Does the domain name itself hold any weight at all these days ?

As long as it's pretty natural within the niche to have very few pages then sure

If you are going after multiple mid/head-term phrases that don't have such close relevancy then you might be making life harder for yourself, but as mentioned if it's all about one core niche/topic one page sites can rank, but perhaps not the most optimal way of doing things.

In most cases for competitive keywords, no.

I see a lot of single page sites for books though. Those rank well and are mainly to funnel people to where you can buy the book.

I can't see why it would be penalised. Maybe it'd be harder to rank than a more indepth site of the same topic, but then as others have said the page could be for something very specific, or promotional.

Yes! of course it is possible to do the SEO for a single page website. But, these are some factors you might face!

1) Page loading speed (Single page websites are often built on front-end frameworks like angular or Vue so page loading speed might be slow)
2) # URL - Google does not like hash tags in the URL so, do not target pages with hash tags

The Rule #1

Do not insult any other member. Be polite and do business. Thank you!
