Suspended to Renewal Required

I (and I suspect others) will have noticed some names today (saturday evening) change from Suspended to Renewal Required without getting a new expiry date.

How can this happen ?

Isn't that when they have been renewed by the registrar but not paid for? Over 30 days to nominet etc

Seen it happen lots of times in the past, but only on 1-2 domains in each instance.

The 30 day overdue they remain renewal required and never hit suspended, a la' tagnames back in the day, this changed from suspended to renewal only which wouldn't fit.

Of about 10 names (i was watching), 7 renewed and changed from registered until, 3 changed from suspended to renewal.
