we are expanding our tyre fleet check service and need a handheld tablet pc/smart phone with touchscreen to enter data onto our site (so must have net connection etc etc)

can anyone recommend anything?

cheers

What do you need to run, how rugged do you need? How much is your budget?
What app are you running on the device?
Any specific capabilities needed in a browser if it is just a web page?
Whats your current estate?
Running exchange?
Do you need email?
Do you need remote wipe if they are lost?

MC75 if you want windows mobile in a rugged device. Maybe even a RedFly if you need a bigger screen and KB.
Netbook for a proper laptop.

hey jimm, well its gonna be used outdoors to note down details of tyres, so needs to be quite rugged (mobile tyre fitters can be a bit 'butter fingers'), all it really needs is a web browser that can access some asp pages to store some data to a database, dont need email or remote wipe (never heard of that!) as no data will be stored on it. had a look at MC75 but a bit to expensive (for the moment). needs to have a good sized screen but not as big as a netbook. Would one of these tablet things work? if so can u recommend one?

thanks for the suggestions!

Have a look at the redfly: http://www.celiocorp.com That was the next best thing to an MC75 we came up with. Just use any normal WM PDA and the redfly. The mobile doesnt get much abuse as its only connected to the PDA via BT so can stay in a cradle in the van (if your close) or I guess in a holder on your belt, and the redflys are quite robust (and cheap).
We ruled tablets out as they were very expensive and didnt last long with gas engineers.
