Compiled a top 100 .co.uk domain sales list, since start of 2015
and published it in my blog.

Here are the first ten domain names from that list:

lights.co.uk 25000 GBP
easyfundraising.co.uk 24000 USD
whitstable.co.uk 12000 GBP
secret.co.uk 8200 USD
melitta.co.uk 8000 EUR
dcl.co.uk 7010 GBP
einstein.co.uk 6000 GBP
bau.co.uk 5800 GBP
dns.co.uk 5000 GBP
hotelcompare.co.uk 5000 USD
.....
.....

$5,000 is in the top 10? Kind of surprised at that.

List seems to be done by the highest figures not accounting for the currency, bit sloppy, c'mon goldnames :p

dns didn't complete for the listed amount, it was £3500

Top 100 **disclosed** .co.uk sales in 2015 (so far)

A good list, thanks for posting. Easyfundraising achieved a very good price. I was a bit surprised to see that one.

Not sure I could live with my brand being DNPric even if it did form a fairly decent domain hack :D

Established business on the .org.uk having to pay the asking price for the .co.uk/.uk - not very surprising really.

He's got a point though. It's a very shady industry. Inflating prices depending on the buyer is rife. It's not tolerated much elsewhere. Can you imagine how much you pay for a pint fluctuating based on how big your company is or how thirsty you are :D

FYI positive.co.uk is in the list for 2014 and 2015

I understood it sold towards the end of 2014, but domainprices.co.uk has it selling again in April of this year. I thought it may have been sold again for purchase price. Happy to correct if that's wrong.

I sold it in November. Last update date on nominet is 18-Nov-14. Doesn't look like it was sold again in April?

I once got an e-mail from a bloke whose company had had 100,000 catalogues printed but they'd printed my domain - which was the plural of theirs - on the back cover. He was straight with me and told me his reason for wanting to buy my name and offered me the cost of him re-printing which was less than my asking price and I accepted.

Given your reply, I suppose you'd have been rubbing your hands together thinking how much you could squeeze out of him and it's your kind of people that make this World a shitty place sometimes.

Nope, I'm not a domainer - I build useful websites that provide services rather than just hoarding assets in the hope I can resell them for more :)

In truth I have nothing against domainers, I've never paid more than I though a name was worth, even when I was wrong.

The irony of a domainer complaining that successful startups get too much investment and bemoaning the lack of manufacturing is obviously lost on you, but if you believe it why not sell your portfolio and open a factory

Fed up of you complaining about people who've done well. Also the insults are starting to grate a bit. Wind your neck in.

What's wrong with getting the most you can?

I think it's just business ethics. You should set a price for a domain and that should be that. I was saying to a mate of mine last night it'd be interesting to do a case study on how the domain prices differed if you were getting a price on Acorn, mailing as a private individual or mailing as apparently on behalf of a major player in the niche and/or prime candidate for the domain in question. I'd imagine the results to be staggering.

Nothing wrong with charging £500 or £5000 for easyfundraising.co.uk if that's your price but be consistent with it.

I suppose it's about where your moral compass lies and what makes you feel good about yourself. I expressed an opinion based on mine and you have as much right to disagree with that views as I have yours.

The problems arise when those who lack the ability to respect the opinion of others despite disagreeing with them get involved.

Take matey boy above, he thinks he can come along imply that I'm talking shit and then get on his high horse when I sink down to his level.

Everyone has the right to an opinion, that certainly doesn't come with the right to have it respected.

You started insulting me when I pointed out you had your facts wrong on the other thread.

I suspect you realised you were wrong and felt frustrated. Anyway, it's hardly professional or constructive

"The internet is a fad" is an opinion. Not one worth respecting.

Your 'retort' was 'fuck off you twat' and you think I deserved that because I was 'consdescending' - because I disagreed with you?

Again, the suggestion that P2P finance, equity crowdfunding, crowdfunded factroring, automatic trade copying, low cost international transfer, etc are 'not innovative' is ridiculous.

If you think P2P finance is just a credit union then you may as well say Ebay is just an auction house and Google is just a set of index cards.

If you think you can clone any one of those companies in days or weeks, go for it. Maybe you can make a website with some basic functionality. That is a rather long way from a successful business.

I certainly am 'easily impressed' by startups and entrepreneurs who are changing the world. They are making a major difference to my business and I'm also doing very nicely from them personally.

In terms of getting along and acting professionally, perhaps try arguing on the substance instead of calling me a twat and suggesting people like me 'make the world a shitty place'.
