Any one seen any good deals on transfer + year renewals on domains recently ? Best I've found is crazy-domains so far, 75 domains ( free transfer + renewal price of £3.99 ) .

Saves about £150 over names.co.uk and 123-reg renewals where the domains are currently at.

Namecheap are not too far behind crazy domains ( About £30 difference for the bulk ), Which is where all my other domains are.

Anyone seen any cheaper than crazy domains ? Before anyone says it, I know tag is cheaper long term etc etc.

What you might not have factored in is some of the promotions that Nominet may or may not run on cheap extended renewals for tag holders.

I've never used crazy - that's a good price for 1st year but are they so good in following years? They appear to price up .uk - charging a couple of pounds more for .uk even though they pay the same wholesale price to nominet. There are a few registrars that do that and I don't like that practice.

Daily are still good value on bulk deals for .co.uk and .uk - although for .com they're not that cheap (unless you buy 150 credits which is a bit beyond our need). And LCN have really hiked prices recently. They have done some great promotional offers but renewal prices aren't such great value anymore so will probably have to move a lot of these again.

Just started using 20i for hosting and their reseller prices are very good value at £4.95 .co.uk and £6 to transfer in a.com (with 1 year added) and £7.49 renewal price - what's really good about 20i is there is no bulk purchase necessary but you need to have a reseller hosting account at £35 odd a month (but you get good hosting for that). Must say we're impressed with 20i so far - good support, very modern features and smooth to use. Let's hope they are sticking with these prices for a while.

Just done some numbers, although I am downsizing considerably in the coming year in the UK space...IF I was to renew all of my current UK stock, It would cost me £758 via Crazy Domains £3.99 renewals.

Bearing in mind I'm not "planning" on continuing with UK domains going forward from a sales perspective. I would still probably have 50+ UK domains from existing sites and I guess some of those I have already, or will be forced to registered the .uk too. So lets say a guaranteed minimum of £199 a year at Crazy domains price.

After initial sign up of Nominet membership £400 and then £100 renewal membership every year after. £3.50 + VAT ( £4.20 ) per domain renewal. It wouldnt get anywhere close to being cost effective for me, unless I offset costs against catching but that's irrelevant unless I knew id have time for it.

I've started getting my domains to Crazy domains for the time being as its free to transfer, ( loving their panel so far, bulk nameserver updates are a bonus ) also noticing because of the amount of domains I have I currently qualify for 5% off renewals so that would be £3.79 inclusive of VAT. Could even go up to 10% discount plus free premium DNS if I transfer my other TLD's to them as well.

I can't see how being a Nominet member would benefit me what so ever, without getting into catching. Or am I missing something ?

You are relying on special offers and promotions. You are also relying on the companies to give you good support, never raise their prices, and be totally secure.
None of those things are guaranteed. With your own tag you have complete control over what goes in or out and you pay cost at nominet.
If you don't have a lot of domains it's probably not worth it. However remember that companies can't offer you domains long term at cost. They would go out of business.

You're missing special promotions which Nominet may or may not run to enable registrars to run their promotions.

When you factor in Nominet membership, remember that by removing the 3rd party you get rid of many of the issues repeatedly reported with budget (and some not so budget) registrars, the time spent resolving issues can easily eat away at your time. What do you value your time at, add this into the equation and you may get a different result.
