I don't own Turkey.biz, but I am looking at a similar domain and would like to know how the .biz takes away from an exact country match.

Suggestions on the value of Turkey.biz (but please ignore the animal connotation, think of the country) would be very handy.

Thanks

Well, if I remember correctly, I sold football.biz for £1500 in a part-exchange deal where I picked up a nice .info as part of the process.

As anyone here can tell, I'm an amateur, but I'd guess-timate £700 to £1500.

you've got to own a domain to get an appraisal on it, surely?

I kind of agree on the having to own it bit... but I can't think of a better way to explain what I'm looking at without making it obvious - so feedback would be appreciated.

Great link to DN Sale Price...

$1250 for Portugal.biz gives an indication that .biz is a bit of a stinker.

$3700 for Gold.biz seals it, it's a pants TLD.

Only worthwhile to investors if you can get a decent generic at reg fee

Excellent wording, you would need a lot of marketing funds for it so I think it's a waste of time as for the appraisal, buy it and I will appraise but appraising a domain you don't own isn't fair.

I can let the cat out of the bag now that the owner of the .com that I had enquired about got back to me with a price too high for me.

I picked up Masr.biz for the reg fee as there is a good chance that Egypt may change its name to Masr

I won't be buying any more, but some people may want to take a chance with Masr names...

The .co.uk was regged 12 Feb, maybe a result of your post? I would have gone for the .co.uk over the .biz.

Rgds

Something about .biz names that always make me think of spam and dodgy pop-ups, malware, trojans, etc, etc. Don't know why?

I thought that too, but the .co.uk had gone... it was 12 Feb last year - just a co-incidence.

EDIT: Oops, didn't see there was a second page and see that replies had mentioned what I said - feeling daft.

I have seen .biz ranking on google UK in this kind of market (travel / destination )
Probably doesn't help the CTR though.

I'm surprised that so many people say they don't feel 'safe' on a particular domain extension in a forum of domainers.

I can understand not liking it or thinking that it looks suspicious from a customer's perspective or being worried about CTR, but surely you all know enough to know the signs of a bad website without the extension turning you away?

Its probably because .biz domains are easier to register (not as popular as other top extensions) and are often used for spam or other dodgy stuff. Its just a reputation thing I guess.. and reputation also affects value..
