This is a question for those who 'get' Twitter and realise the power of it.

Do you see value in Twitter names and them increasing in value as time passes ?

If you do see value in them, can you give a figure where you think they are worth buying / worth a punt ?

Thanks

is it?...............ooops I`ve sold quite a few

Bad boy!

Yeah its against their TOS but who cares, seen them being sold all over the place.

On a more serious note... Yes, Twitter accounts with enough genuine followers are worth good money.

It's illegal to sell drugs too - still brilliant money in it :)

It isn't "illegal" it is against the sites t&c - big difference.

Not as if the Twitter police will come and arrest me and charge me with twitter handle dealing ;)

I meant generic handles as opposed to accounts with followers..

Now look what you`ve gone and done!!

I do see value in some twitter names.
Obviously there are companies who would like to get hold of their own brand names etc. and would be willing to pay for it. But I think these are probably few and far between.
(Not sure on the rules of that BTW?)

Not like domain names
The problem comes if considering investing in Twitter names, is that Twitter may not last forever, so it could easily all go belly up over time.
2 years?, 5 years? 10+?.. who knows. (if your thinking of buying them)
For this reason, I wouldn't buy them!
But then again maybe a small punt?

Also, alot of potential 'end users' find it hard to understand any value even in Domain Names, let alone Twitter names. So you could be banging your head against a wall.
Plus most companies can't even crack how to even use Twitter effectively yet and some just don't understand social marketing, Full Stop!

However if you find a few good ones available.. Go for it - They don't cost anything after all. ;)

-- So spill the beans then Frank, what have you got? LOL

I've tried buying a few, as an end user (to use a domain analogy), in the £xxx range.

Twitter has and will take names from people if it's clear that there's a brand issue. I believe there's even a report out there of a person having their full name username taken away from them because it was a celebrity's name and they wanted the account.

In terms of the original discussion, I personally think it's a nice match to sell a domain name and offer the equivalent Twitter name to the buyer as well. Particularly for brandable names when someone is considering starting a company off the back of it.

Twitter is supposed to be introducing a system for freeing up abandoned names but that was years ago and I'm still waiting. One thing to be cautious of though if you're dealing with a lot of them.

In terms of seo, I think it will soon be going full circle. Google is not daft. It will see it/them for what they are. Massive spam machines.

I would not like to have any followers linked to people who do the below. With 5199 positive reviews, he's a busy boy and there are tons more out there doing the same.

You Twitter Dealer, you! :p

Fancy a quarter of TwitDeals? ;)

Definitely good value in names, hard to register generic names and those with active followers/tweets, etc. Unsure how to estimate value though...
