Here's what I need.

A company that registers a domain name there and then as soon as I click the pay button.

A decent management system, ideally they have namedrive or sedo plugged in, one click, select all redirect.

Whole domain selection nameserve change

Relatively cheap domain reg, godaddy prices for .com 123-reg for uk, along those lines.

Any options? I will move 400 odd domains to you providing it doesn't cost anything to transfer in and is hassle free. I've had a 'kinough of 123-reg. Another £1 phone call on Monday to get £6 back, up yours. You can't reg a domain just because the domain was previously rented by someone who was a 123-reg customer or any other annoying excuse??? then fix it, meanwhile I'm off.

Any alternatives?

isp

problem...123reg is b****y awfull, domains now stuck for 4 days, emails not answered,no use thinking of transfering elsewhere when the system at 123 is b****y seized up...or maybe it's their idea, to stop people leaving...z

Get yourself a Nominet membership and a TAG.
Spread out over 400 domains that's not much cost and you will never be pissed about by another registrar.

Then all you need is a couple of name servers and some simple scripts to automate things. (You might not even need your own name servers, if all the domains are on Sedo & Namedrive)

One has to ask, how does one go about getting a TAG and how much will it set you back, because quite simply, if it's cheap for 400 domains, why aren't half the world and their brother doing it already?

I think he's working it on the basis of the difference in registering a domain with a third party instead of direct with nominet over two years for 400 domains.

I've looked on nominet but can't see the fee for tag anywhere, membership is £400 and £100 every year, so there's £200 of £400 already.

So the uk domain registration market is s***, does nominet realise? They're must be an alternative, ukreg charge a month early, they're not an option. And 1&1 are crap.

lee, ive been using heartinternet.co.uk
ive built a simple formail script that i can enter a domain, and it
takes 5-10 seconds to register the domain (via email/formail)

control panel for heartinternet is decent,
not sure about the bulk nameserver changes,
support is very good, i have had no problems so far.

downside is, they do seem to charge you for transfering .com's in :(

Look, would nominet recommend a suitable UK registrar? I can't belirve the UK domain registration market is this shit. Does not one poxy registrar offer a decent admin system, registration within seconds of clicking a button and each to redirect and manage in mass, domains on account?

Heart internet, by the sounds of it I need to build something myself, 123-reg - well we know they're shit, ukreg bill a month early, weycrest don't have an admin panel as such. So come on please give me an option, does nominet really offer this poor a service?

Perhaps all the hundreds and thousands of pounds they enforced via domain transfers illegally, they should sort their parterning registrars out and get some rules in 'kin place. This really is a shoddy set up.

We have an system on the way, but we won't be as cheap as 123reg/ukreg etc.

Blaming Nominet isn't exactly fair either. You have a choice, buy budget and get cr*p service or spend more and get better customer care.

Buy a burger at a street corner for £1 and get a squirt of sauce. Go and buy a burger at a posh restaurant and you get a table, chair, waiter service, side salad, etc etc but it costs more. You don't blame the supplier of the cow!

You're telling me stuff I know, it's plainly obvious, the problem hasn't been long term, they were alright to use before and as for blaming nominet, yes you can in all honesty, they choose who sells their goods on their behalf, it's up to them to ensure the businesses they partner are suitable enough to offer the service they have been charged with, if they fail to do so then that permission should be revoked or fines implemented.

I'm not after cheap cheap, I'm after a reasonable price that reflects the service, 123-reg have bugs and have had them for months now. I need a new registrar, surely nominet or one of you know of a solution, a company that is out there right now.

Your last comments are rubbish, sorry, nominet are to blame, they surely oversee how their product is sold? if mismanaged or poorly sold etc, surely it's their duty to revoke a licence or two.

Lee, it might be worth emailing them and asking them, they may build it
into the system.

They are very keen to help in most cases...

its worth a shot!
