Hi Guys

My job in the next two hours or so is to decide whether to drop or keep the below names. I just thought I'd have a bit of fun and invite views from the forum. I think they are good names, but I think I'm perhaps a little early on the tech, and not sure whether I want to risk the renewal fees. Last minute offers will also be considered, but only if it's worth my time doing the paperwork and transfer.

What do you think then guys??!

holomaps.net
holoprojectors.net
holodecks.net
holoviewer.net
holoviewers.net
holoviewers.com
holocamera.net
holocameras.net

Thanks :p

If I was going to choose one it would be holoprojectors.
Maybe not that far off.. Could see it happening.
(maybe they do already for all I know)
In fact I'm sure I've already seen something used at theme park somewhere - r2d2 style :)

Don't know about the others though. Maybe a long long way off.
Just my thoughts. - I'm no techie or domainer for that matter.

All the best
Mike

Thanks for the comments. holoprojectors is probably the strongest term, I have seen some talk of consoles soon incorporating holoprojectors. Decisions decisions!

Thanks. Am starting to edge towards holoprojectors.net being a keeper.

The fact that your even asking suggests they are worthless.

Have now decided to drop holomaps.net ... interesting tech but not very commercial.

holodecks.net will be dropped. Stuff of science fiction and I can't see a return on this any time soon.

Rgds

Dropping these ...

holoviewer.net
holoviewers.net
holoviewers.com

Was a nice future tech idea of mine, but I made up the term, and I can't see a near term return. Still hard to drop them but hey ... got to know when to cut your losses.

holocamera.net
holocameras.net

are being dropped. I can't see a near term return on these. Interesting tech but can't see a sale anytime soon.

That just leaves holoprojectors.net ... ho hum ...

Another thing that springs to mind.

I've tried a few speculative tech type domains & regreted the reg after.

The risk is you can never guarantee what they would actually call it.
They come up with all sorts of snappy marketing terms to sell a gadget.
Would a 'holo projector' even be called that if it was developed?
They might call it a flippin 4d or 5d projector (whatever that means!)

These type of domains are extra risky because of that.

I still might take a punt with that one though. ;)

Nobody really knows what you should do here, so it's up to you really.

If you have the money to pay for keeping the domains and think that they could potentially be worth money in the future I'd keep them. After all, you've got to gamble to make money, don't you ?

Financially I could renew them, but whilst I find it tough to drop domains, I think it's a very important discipline in investment to cut something when you don't see a likely return. These drops bring my total drops up to 207 for my domaining career.

Yes that's a good point too. From what I've saw you're really successful at selling domains so I wouldn't worry about it too much! You're never going to have a 100% success rate with something like domaining.

I'm going to keep holoprojectors.net ... I'll try to get a site on it soon.

I would keep holoviewers.com, if holo stuff takes off it might do ok this one.

Then again I have voicerecognitiontechnology on .co.uk which is really taking off at the moment but haven't had any offers :(

I hand regged graphene screens /co /uk a while ago as a bit of punt.
Did a bit of reading up on it & thought it was worth ago. Seemed a good idea at the time anyway LOL.
I'll stick with it! (Maybe a waste who knows)

Never can truly say which direction technology will take.

If I bought domains in the 80's I probably would of regged 'Metal Mickey'
Nuff said!

I would also keep this and the .net, I watched a feature on the bbc click programme about a week ago (you might be able to find it on the iplayer) where they were showing the future of holographic tv's/monitors and they said its a few years away but big companies like LG and Samsung are already developing the technology and products.

I wish I had two hours to spare to decided whether or not to renew a bunch of domains!

If you're in any doubt then just renew them.
